Thanks, but I want gas. I should have said that.
I don't know if I want to get in to the alky. It seems a little complicated.

Alky isn't all that hard to set up. If its a lectron...all you do is turn the needle clockwise or counter clockwise to get the right air/fuel mixture. I've been having a 40mm for a while now and I love it. I never have to mess with tuning it, except when it gets really cold outside; but even then its not like you have to mess with needle clips, slides, main jets, and power jets like in a keihin.

Go for it! I'll never go back to gas.

I might venture out and try it.
Is it harsh to your engine? You do have to use a fuel pump, right? How does that set-up work?

It sounds like a lot at first but its not so bad after you get it set up correctly.

I have a mikuni fuel pump inline between the pingle and carb. You have to tap your intake (reed area is fine) for the vacuum line to the fuel pump. Also gut/drill a larger vent hole in your gas cap, as any vacuum in the tank will not allow the fuel pump to do its job.

The only hassle I find with running methanol is having to purge the bike after riding for the weekend, which only takes 5 minutes.

Derby...is yours set up for gravity feed or a fuel pump?

It is a gravity feed with the billet bowl setup by packard.

I have heard of people ice race using alky. .You just have to richen it up A LOT. It will run very lean in cold weather if tuned for warm weather.

I went ahead and bought a new Lectron 44mm from Packard Racing.
The carb and cable was $315.00
Not a bad price the the baddest carb on the market with the throttle cable.
He also told me to give him a call when I had the carb in hand and he will go through the steps of setting up everything.
When he sends you the carb, it's already tuned custom to your application.
Customer service with this guy is already A+++++
