I was out riding my 02 wolverine in the yard and then the lights shut off and the motor shut off.
I am thinking that something happened to the CDI box.If something happened to the CDI would the power to the lights be cut?
Also i was wondering that if it is the CDI and it needs to be replaced if the PROCOM Aftermarket ones for a Warrior would work for a wolverine.
Thanks in advance.

Well I pulled the rear plastics off and checked all of the wiring and it seemed like it was all good. There was no corrosion on anything.

I am pretty sure that it is the CDI box but I want to know if this CDI box for a warrior will fit it.It looks like it is the same thing. Also does anyone know if this CDI box is any good or if it is junk.
I want to get this one because I don't have a lot of money to spend.

they show the same oem part numbers so yeah they will interchange according to what im looking at on an oem parts website, so give it a shot man, let me know how it works out, to double check, call the yamaha dealer and ask if the 02 warrior and the 02 wolverine have the same part number for the cdi box on their computer, but my source says it will fit :)

Hey thanks for the help.I thought that they it would work.
I am only 14 and I don't know to much.My dad doesn't ride so he isn't much help but 2 of my uncles ride so they have been helping me.

Friday one of my uncles is going to come pick it up and we are going to look at it at his house because he has a heated garage and here in Pa. it is needed this time of year.We are going to start from the battery and start checking everything and see were the power is lost.If it is lost right after the CDI then I will replace it.

Thanks for all of the help.

yeah no prob dude, keep me up to date, im interested to see how this turns out. if its not the cdi, i would put money on it being the stator, that has been a problem on these warriors sometimes, if thats the problem, let me know and ill help ya find a deal on a new one :) ive never worked on a wolverine in particular but seeings how its the same motor as a warrior, ive had mine apart a dozen times over the last few years, im happy to help.

Thanks.
I will keep you up to date.

My uncle is probably going to come pick it up tomorrow. He also think that it is the stator. He said that he had a dirtbike that did the same thing as my quad and that it was the stator.

Do you know that if the stator was messed up it would make the lights shut off.I was riding at night and the power to everything was shut off.The headlights the indicator for neutral and it doesn't have any spark.

thats the best price on the web that i could find for a ricky stator. all you need is the gasket which you can pick up at your dealer for a few bucks, like less that 10 dollars i would imagine. no assembly required on that stator either, just bolt it on and plug it in

Thanks.

I was looking and that is the one I found a few days ago.
Today they canceled school due to the temperature so I am going to give my uncle a call to let him know he can come get it earlier today.

After we get to it with a voltage tester we will be able to tell what is causing my electrical problem.

I really appreciate all of your help on this.

Do you know of any other CDI boxes that aren't to expensive in case I do have to buy one. I found the procom but after some things I have read I am not even going to bother with procom.I am looking for one that isn't to expensive.I am young and bought the quad myself and do not have a lot of money.I actually still owe money on the quad.

this is the one i would buy if it were me. its a name brand that ive herd good things about and its cheaper than a ricks hot shot, but not quite as high performance.

Well for those that want to now what came of my problem it was the ignition switch.
Once my uncle came and got the quad we took off the plastics then went at it with a voltage tester. After a while we noticed that when you messed with the ignition switch wire that it would turn it on and off.
It seems like the person who had it before me had some accessory like a winch spliced into it.When they put it back together they only used electrical tape.
My uncle soldered the wires back together and then we hooked it back up and it worked. Then we put the quad all back together and we rode it around a little and so for it seems to work fine.
I really liked the fix on this because it was free.

Thanks.
Me to.

I went out and rode it and I was sliding in the snow and it got traction and flipped over once and landed on its side.
I am going to have to adjust the handle bars now and I am going to find out what to do with the trail-tech because one of the tabs on the mount slid off.
