How do you remove the rear spring? I backed the preload collars all the way off like my clymer said, but their was still pressure on the spring. Am I missing something? Also, how does the plate at the bottom come off? Thank you.

you have to take the weight off the back spring. I used a car jack at the center until the wheels were just off the ground then do what youve been doing. The spring will slide up and the plate will slide out.

I had the shock off of the bike when I was trying this.

put the shock upside down in a vise. then have someone pull the spring down with your hands and you take a screwdriver and get the bottom plate off and your done. but it will take two sets of hands.

I got it. I did not realize that the plate was two pieces. Mine was so packed with dirt, I could not tell. Two sets of hands would have been nice...
