The majority of people posting here seem to be racing MX, but we are currently involved in a mild build of a DRX90 for trail riding and a few XC events.

Here's what we have so far:

Stock 90cc w/ XFR nerfs, bumper, grab bar
Uni Filter
Maxxis Razr's (may try snowhogs)
Frame gussets (then powder coat)
modified anti-vibe stem
modified foot brake pedal
handguards

We are mulling over a bunch of other things, but could always use more ideas to improve the capability and reliability. We're on a limited budget, and kinda wondering where our money would be BEST spent. Please post your combo and any photos you wish to share of your DRR XC beasts!

Thanks!

Stay away from the snowhogs for XC they are too small.

Suspension would be my next suggestion. You can get standard travel aftermarket for a decent price.

You might want to think about a pipe. They cost quite a bit but some of them will unleash the power. I would not be afraid to say most of them are better than stock. For trail riding - you might look at the Hetrick pipe. It is a "low-end" pipe.

i would look at doing something to keep the air filter dry to, like using the stock air tube but put your uni filter on the end. also you might try the maxxis tire its taller and will help with clearance, you will have to re-gear.

Hayden is going to try gncc at river ranch in central florida next month.

Good luck and have fun

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Keep 'em coming!!

I think speed-wise we'll be OK (for now!) once we get the clutch figured out. Our quad had a bad clutch from the start, and we are anxiously awaiting better weather to start trying to sneak up on the tuning. We will try different tires/gear combos once we get a real good baseline on the clutch.

We'll add the air filter mod to our list, for sure!

Coffing, that's a sweet package. Thanks for the pic.

Thanks to all!
Brian

The 18" snow hogs work fine for my 6 year old the 16" ones were to low. xfr makes a skid plate that has saved our pipe and engine case. They are also working on a skid plate. We have torn our stock one up pretty good. We use electro grease on all the wire bundles to help with the water . The stock air stand pipe fixed our problems in the water also.. Nerf bars help with getting around trees.

Updated photos!

Frame and most major parts are at the powdercoaters. We'll be hard pressed to have it back together by 3/15, but we're gonna give it a shot!

Did you put the pipe on the upper arm mounts with the engine in the frame? You may have trouble with the spark plug there? Just something I noticed? I know the earlier dual a-arm frames were made with a square welded in that area and they were difficult to work on them and it was smaller? Just thought I would mention it to you?

That's a good point. My fabricator (brother) checked, and mounted the brace where it would not interfere (too much!). Plus it's smaller tubing to allow for more clearance.

Are you in Zionsville, IN ? We should get together and ride!
