so it turns out my buddy who just recently purchased HIDS for his raptor got a second kit shipped to him. he was not charged and he has no idea why but hey he isnt going to complain. so he said if you want it you can have it 4 cheap. im not sure if it would some how work or not with mine. with my luck probably not. but it is a kit comes with ballasts and all and the bulbs are supposed to plug right into the stock lights well at least on his raptor. does anyone think this would work? is my battery powerfeul enough to do this?

yes!!
they will work but you will have to cut the harness and modify the wire connectors, also the bulbs will not fit perfectly but you can silicone the outer part of the bulb to the housing!!
I did it to mine and they are great!

Are they HIDs???
Cause if they are just bulbs without ballast, they dont have the same brightness.

I'm not sure if they are HID, but they are 12000k low/hi violet purple bulbs. just pull out the bulbs and take them to an auto discount store like auto zone napa or somthin like that and they will point you in the right direction for bulbs!!

No the 12000K bulbs are not HID. The 12000k refers to the color temperature of the halogen bulb.
Simple Racing sells conversion kits for other quads; you could contact them about setting up a kit for the DS 450.

Just a note……a higher color temperature does not equate to a brighter light. Much over 6000k and the headlight will actually start looking blue to purple. General recommendations are to stay in the 5000k to 6000k range
Your other option is to keep the stock lights and invest in an aftermarket HID light(s). I ran a single Trail Tech SC4 HID light (from C&D Racing) at the Heartland Challenge in conjunction with my stock light and it worked great! If you stalled the quad it was nice to have the stock headlight as it provides instantaneous light, the HID takes ~5 or more seconds to relight and come to full brightness.

sent an email to simple racing and they said they are planning to have a HID kit for the can-am and ktms pretty soon which is awesome cause they are plug and play and they appear to be nice kits and well made. not cheap knock offs. if anyone is interested they should email them to let them know there is a demand

Ambient sunlight is 6500k. Anything lower will have a yellow/reddish tint. anything higher will start to look blue or purple

For anyone that cares, kind of a late answer but im about 99% sure that the ds450 uses H-4 bulbs! Im runnin 12000k violet purple h-4 bulbs now for 10 hours problem free

so has anyone found out what size for sure these bulbs are? im trying to find a hid kit that will work. and i tryed a h6 bulb kit from my buddies z400 and raptor and they are totally different. the ds bulbs are more like truck bulbs where you just plug the new bulb in and the h6 isnt. i just want some brighter lights. so if in fact it is h4 bulbs if i found an h4 hid kit it should work right? i could just change the conectors for whaetever machine its made for and tie it in to my quad. or if that doesnt work i could go to autozone and find brighter h4 bulb?
