Im getting ready to rebuild my z for the 09 season. Im wanting a 450 kit but i have only found a few bolt-on kits which is what i want. Im not really wanting to do a crank right now so my question is what kind of setups is everyone running.
What sites to go to for parts with out spending a fortune. I wanna keep up with the full race 450s.

just the basics. jet kit, slip-on, filter. No internals.

considering you will be starting from scratch you would be better off selling your Z and getting a YFZ

I'd start with a head pipe and a set of old style hotcams, that will get you some good power. also consider that if you have bald tires or even stock tires you might want to upgrade to a set that will hook better. with a full pipe, K&N, and cams I'd say you could keep up or beat a 450 unless of course the 450 has the same mods then you will probably eat there dust.

but I would do the cams, pipe, carb, ignition way before I would ever do a 450 kit. you wont get any real numbers out of it until you upgrade those first.

In my old DVX i had stage 2 hotcams, ported head, +2000 revbox, full system alba knockoff pipe, twin air kit, rekluse clutch. and the quad kept up to the 450s nicely. and it even still had stock piston in it.
The 450 would pull out of the hole, get about 1 bike length ahead but that was it. if the dvx had a high comp pison it would have pulled the 450. the 450 had some work done as well.

Take the gas cap off and pull a new quad underneath it. haha you suck.

I would go in this order:

Full exhaust, 400ex or 450r airboot, cams, high comp piston, 39mm fcr carb
