i agree. Ive banged hipers off of pretty much everything i could find :eek2: rocks, trees, plenty of other quads, nice roll down a hill... Worst i got was some scuffed rings.

Hiper's are a good option for MX, they're strong, and somewhat lightweight.

OMF's are the strongest beadlock, however they are pretty heavy.

DWT's beadlocks are a good wheel as well, lighter than the other two.

I wouldnt say lightweight, 1 probably weighs the same as 2 stock imo (never weighed em but picked each up to see one day). I like em in the woods i dont drag or mx much so not worried about weight.

I seen ppl break them at races once in awhile but ive never had a problem. Between all the bikes I have 3 full sets Only gripes i have are the orings going bad int he centers causing slow air leaks. Cheap easy fix though I usually do them when i change tires.

Ive had douglas beadlocks that have taken some abuse over years too. Theyre thick aluminum, only damage is nicks in rings.

How much do hipers run and what size would you guys get on a 400ex

I've never priced new ones, but I've bought two barely used sets. Both were 3:2 fronts and 9" dual beadlock rears. I paid $580 for one set that had any extra set of front centers. The other set I picked up for $780 with Irazr tires.
If you want some, just watch the forums, there is almost always a few sets for sale.

They are black all the way through. You don't have to worry about scratches. The rings are also the same color all the way through.

My OMF's have douglas centers but my buddy's have some offbrand wheel center. I would go with OMF of DWT. Hipers aren't worth thier weight in bubble gum. The bolts either break or makes the brass inserts spin in the carbon fiber. I had this happen and seen it happen to a buddy. Also i've never seen an aluminum rim brake into pieces.

ive put 3 years of racing on my hipers and (knock on wood) never had a problem. ive slammed into other quads, rolled down hills, hit fence posts, trees, roots, rocks, and NEVER HAD ON PROBLEM:D :D

Same here, I've never had a problem with my hipers, but I have bent some aluminum wheels. Anything can be broken, but I've seen a lot more bent aluminum wheels then I've seen broken Hipers.
As far as the inserts, use antiseize and torque them correctly and you won't have a problem.

I would get douglas. THey are a lot cheaper then hiper and I like them a lot better. Personally I would never buy a carbon fiber rim. I have a set of douglas champion beadlocks for a honda for sale if you are interested let me know.

I have OMF's

The douglas beadlocks are overall lighter. It's been proven with a scale...

its like you can get some douglas beadlocks or hypers beadlocks..............you can prolly ad a few pounds to the hypers and people will still prolly buy them cause they look cool with all the bolts shining with a fla black rim with a colored rim compared to douglas, just one shiny color, shure you might be able to get a colored ring but i'd rather go with the one with the most "BLING" yuh her home slice:D
