click click when starting

ok so when its cold out my 400ex just goes click click click after a bit it will go then is find the rest of the day till it sits for a long time....now the battier is new and it has a new stator and does do it when it is warm out........so what do you guys think it is the STARTER or the STARTER SOLENOID?????thanks

Check your spark plug and spark plug wire make sure you're getting enough spark.

lol what would that do it doesn't roll over just goes click and when its workin it has lots of spark...i took the solenoid out and warmed it up tapped it a few times then it started right up some maybe water got in there.....

yeah i was out in the snow playin around and there is this one spot that is all mud and water and i love playin in mud :D so there was alot of mud around there when i took it out......

i asked a guy a Honda and he said you can take them apart and clean them

I would say your battery is weak. when they get cold they loose cranking amps. Also I have found when the 400 has a dead battery they make the clicking sounds you describe. Charge the battery up and see if that helps

nope it is new and it is a good one and i check that to make sure

its the solenoid. They get dirty and then dont make good contact after a while. It will get worse. Look on ebay or just go to the dealer. You can take them apart if your careful and clean them, but its only a temp fix.
