YFZ FCR carb on 05 450r

hey I've heard throwing the YFZ FCR carb on an 05 450r is a great upgrade to improve throttle response and overall power. is this true? will 06+ FCR's do the same thing? let me know whats up, what years will work and where i can get one, haha, thanks.

yes any fcr carb will work. the 06's are a little tighter under the gas tank though. but you will need a rat stack on the back of the fcr to fit your intake boot. the fcrs are smaller where the clamp goes on.

41mm fcr is perfect for a stock bore. not sure what the F a ratstack is tho

ha me neither bro, im building a +3mm stroker though so I will be at 471cc's... I'll figure the **** out i guess.

a rat stack, or a noss adapter, is an adapter to go from the back of the fcr to your intake boot!

the rear of fcr is alot smaller than your stock carb, so they make this adapter so you can still run your intake boot and air box!

haha, alright thanks man. Im about to pick up a stock yfz carb with stock needle and 165 main jet. what kind of jetting am i lookin at for a 471 stroker, stage II hotcam, full exhaust, K&N and 11:1 piston? thanks for the help, im not stupid I just have no experience with these carbs. thanks again.

since a stock yfz is 39mm that jetting will be close. i would try a 45 pilot 2 1/2 turns out stock clip and 170 main. you could fine tune from there though! i would also check on getting that carb bored out to a 43.5mm. you wouldn't beleive how much this would wake that motor up!!!

Thought the rat didn't work with 05 model. Don't you have to get teh NOSS for the 05? From what I've read on the .org site you need the NOSS on the 05 model with a YFZ carb.
