my 04 hasnt had the crank bearing problem yet and wasnt fixed with the recall, what is a estimated price for a shop to replace the bearing because i am not smart enough to split the cases and what not. just wanting to be on the safe side.

There is/was no recall on the crank bearing problem. The problem is the crank walks it's way to right side bearing and starts to shave down the right side case making metal shavings. The fix is the updated crank. It comes with a collar and new right side beaing and seal. You would need a new left side bearing and seal. I would do a cam chain if you've never replaced it. Might as well do a piston and rings also. I have no idea what someone would charge. I do all my own work. I think my butt would pucker if I had to pay list price for parts and labor.
