Well after nearly 2 years of hard riding my sprockets are almost completly gone. I want to go to a lower gear i think but im not sure which sizes to get. I know this is not the actual gearing im just using it as a metaphor because i understand truck gearing better. Just for my understanding im gonna call the stock sprockets a 3.73 gear. I want to go to something with more acceleration (4.10), what size sprockets should i go with and if anyone has them and can give me an idea about how the feel changes it would be a big help thanks:D

drop a tooth in the front or go up in the back for more acceleration

I thought that was the right way i just couldnt remember for sure. I think my cousin told me a few years ago 1 front tooth is about the same as 3 rear. How much difference does dropping the front tooth down 1 really do?

I added 2 teeth on the back and you can definately notice the difference. And yes 1 tooth in the front is equal to 3 in the back.

i went one down in the front and its like a neck snapper now. you lose top speed. which sucks. im goin a tooth up in the back now. if u think ur machine was a wheelie monster already it gets straight nasty. it will want to pull the front end up easy all the way into 4th.

I love mine since I dropped a tooth in the front. You dont lose much top end as you think. I can still hang with my buddy's z on a long *** straight away. But 1st and 2nd have alot more low end and accelerate quicker. Its good especially coming out of turns and such.

You won't believe the difference you get. Like going from a 2.73 to a 4.30. If you ride in fast, aggressive trails you can stay in 3rd most of the time. When I dropped a tooth on mine, 5th is now usable on the service roads where I ride. You nail it and it'll pull like crazy. You love it.

what he said ^^^ I hardly ever get out of 3rd in fast trails. Same for riding tracks. Unless theres a long straight away of course.

Dropping a tooth in the front made it easier to climb technical trails and whatnot it also helped keep me where I wanted to be (in the RPM range) with paddle tires on.

thanks guys i ride mostly with 4x4s so i can lose even 10mph off my top end and still smoke almost all of them. i think im gonna try dropping one front tooth and see how i like it i found a relativly cheap set to try and make sure i like the gearing before i shell out the cash for sidewinders

And I just read that they have changed the stock front sprocket on the 08 & 09's to a 13-tooth. I notice that the new ones are heavier by about 25 or 30 lbs.

The new ones are rated as "ready to ride". That meaning all fluids full and full tank of gas.
