Kinda common, as it happens on 400ex's and z400's too. Since the bolt broke there may not be any stress on the inner half of the bolt now. Look and see if it has any ridges on the part facing out, and it may be possible to spin it out with a screwdriver by snagging a ridge. If not, pull the whole outter cover off, and it may expose enough of the bolt sticking out of the center case to get vise grips on, to remove it. Shouldnt be a big deal really.

The bolt broke at the end of the threads, which means the threads are up in the case.My bad luck, since I have never split the cases I'm just going to take it to the local Honda shop and let then repair this.

Yeah, I know the threads are still in the case half. Since the head of the bolt is sheared off, there is no torque left on the remaining bolt in the case, allowing it to be removed easily by the method of screwdriver I explained. Stick a skinny skrewdriver in the hole and try to snag a ridge, ya have nothing to lose.

Thanks, I'll try it and see what happens before I take it to the shop.

You don't have to split thr cases. You just have to remove the side cover and then you should be able to get it out.
