im pretty sure thats how mine was. i have the rear end off my quad right now.try getting your quad off the ground and push the axel back and forth to see if its loose. if your still not sure i should have my quad back together next week so ill let you know for sure then.

Yep thats how its supposed to be.

You're all wrong. The large nut is sopposed to be all the way inboard against the brake rotor bracket.

Remember, these are left handed threads.

X2, omeeomy....the picture that you posted is the correct setup for the axle nut assembly. The smaller jam nut, "jams" against the larger axle nut to prevent the axle nut from loosening. The exposed threads are completely normal.

You CAN run it like hornetgod13 has it, but that is not the "correct" way according to Honda. I have a RAD loc on mine as well but I didn't reuse the stock jam nut. It has dual pinch bolts so the jam nut is no longer needed. The way hornetgod13 has it with the RAD loc, it is sort of a failsafe....but not necessary.

If you have a stock axle nut on there, you want that jam nut to be right against the axle nut like in the first picture omeeomy posted.

omeeomy to make sure it doesn't loosen up you can use electrical tape and tape them together. :)

hmmm, maybe its different with the rad nut but mine never went together like that the 2 nuts were always snug together just like his are in the picture. I followed right out of a clymer manual so i'm pretty sure he's got it right.

1 question how do i tighten my brake rotor and axle nut? Theres a tiny bit of play in it but my rotor is a little loose too.

Yea that looks right to me, if you have to remove it though dont forget to take out that little pin in the axle at the end of the threads.... i messed up and didnt see it the first time lol
