I own a 2007 DS650X and am wondering at what temerature does the automatic fan behind the radiator turn on?
Where is the sensor that triggers the fan located and what does it look like?
The reason I as ask this question is because my friend's Bombardier 2004 ds 650's fan kicks on a lot more often that my Can am 07 ds650X. Just trying to figure out why?
Any help will be appreciated.

My atv has less than 10 hours on it and it is not overheating. My friends ds650 is not overheating either.

Wes, you could be right. His 650 is older than mine and that could be why, older anti-freze etc.

may be it is because is just a older motor or slightly clogged radiator. try using redline water wetter and a weaker atifreeze mix in the cooling system 50/50 or 40/60 antifreeze water mix depending on how cold it gets whear you live. I use this stuff in my race cars and it seems to make them run a little cooler.

It may just be a faulty thermocouple, follow the fan wire to it probably in the radiator....the maintenance manual will tell you the temp and how to check it or just replace it and take it out of the possibilities....I wouldn't think they cost that much. From there do a coolant flush and replace as BWK suggested since bad coolant can elevate temps fast. Also check the radiator fans if they are damaged that can cause bad cooling. Never power wash a radiator and keep it clean. Replace the cap periodically....Don't know the difference between the 04/07X models but it might be normal. Your 07 model probably has a better motor and radiator. ICE is also a good quad coolant and CV4 hoses are good. Maintain your cooling system it keeps your motor from wearing down.
