I'm thinking about buying a stage 2 hot cam for my 416ex. My brother in law said they won't hurt it at all, but the guy that rebuilt it said he wouldn't put one in it, and if I did I would have to rebuild it every year, so I was wondering if it will hurt my wheeler, or cause reliability issues. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

my brother and i both run stage 2's and could not be happier. i'd suggest changing engine builders if he claims you'll need to rebuild it every year if you install a drop in cam.

Well he's not a professional he's just a family friend but has worked with wheelers alot, but I had a feeling he was wrong about it. My brother in law and his friend have stage 2's and my brothers 400 has had 1 for like 6 years and never had a problem with it. I will most likely get one.

I like the stage 1 hotcam a lot. I just dont need to pull crazy in upper RPM like a stage 2 does i rather have it more all around

despite what people say, the stage 2 did give us gains through the entire range. mine definitely did not need much more low end, and i didn't want it to fall on its face in the upper rpms.
