I know it's been brought up by many people already, but I can't seem to get this thing to idle. When I bought the quad it did idle but I have taken it apart and put an ESR head on it so I could run pump gas. Before, when it did idle it had a higher compression (modified) oem head which needed 105 octane. It's the only thing I really changed on the engine other than pipe and silencer. It did have FMF Fatty w/ PowercoreII , now it has a TRX-5r w/ FMF turbinecoreII. When I turn the idle adjustment (choke knob) it does nothing. The same with the air screw. No matter what I do it won't idle. With just a very light touch on the throttle it will stay running and it seems to run good all through the higher rpm's, exept for some bogging sometimes when pulling from the very low rpm range.
Any help is appreciated. I am pretty new to these 250r's and 2 strokes in general.
After researching a little, I think the jetting is on the rich side. Below is the info I have...
'86 motor - 69mil bore ( 269cc I believe)
38mm PJ carb
At sea level
52 idle jet
needle on 3rd clip
215 main (way too rich I believe)
air screw makes no difference when adjusted.
BR9EG plug
32:1 93octane w/ Castor 927
Pump gas head (don't know exact dome size)
Mild Mx port cylinder
Uni filter, trx-5r pipe, fmf turbinecoreII silencer, V-force reeds
Any opinions are really appreciated.
