should I kill the lights

Ok,,heres ma question. I've got full stock 400ex plastic on the 416 right now with headlights. Should I ditch the light setup and make the front end look like my MX setup like the pic below..and no I don't have those big tires on there when I race MX..:D

The only reason I bought a 400 was because of the lights look so freakin mean... I don't understand why people put on the fronts without the lights... If I wanted that I would've just bought an old 250R and saved me sum money.....

Keep the lights and drink the beer.....

well i took them off the MX setup because of course they were gettin beat around and fallin out of the plastic from jumping. I've secured them pretty good with the new full front plastic so I think they will work.. I guess the reason I'm debating it is because I haven't used my headlights but once in the last 2 years.. I do like the looks of the headlights when you have the fenders cut but I don't with the full plastic,,,I figured more votes would go toward removing them,,welp that shows ya what I know..:o

Keep them on the new stuff, and then when you are mxing you have cut fenders w/o lights. When you xc or night ride, throw on the fullies with lights.

have u thought about making a headlight blockoff. i had mine on for about 2 months before i put my lights back in. the only reason i put it in was to go night riding. i made mine out of lexan and painted it black. it held up well. i bet norm has a pic of his.

Go drink a beer and think about, as your thinking have another one on me, and if you are unsure after that keep drinking, then after that go with the carbon nose peice or the quad tech hood, it looks trick..... Screw lights, lights are for wusies, i never uses lights when i drive the car at night....;)

look at it this way, what do you do more ??? night riding or day riding??? i hardly ever ride at night and if i do and don't feel like taking off the head light covers i just grab to flash lights and stick on the bars, it works, .lol

i wouldnt kill them...i love the stock 400 lights...they are very trick...hey user, that looks like a hugely fun race..i wish we had small non mx races like that, were you dont have to be the best rider to run in it...lol

Rico, I rode with a guy one time from Ohio that had a trick set up. He had the racing plastic with Tinner air scoops like you have in your pic. When it started getting dark he hooked up a set of Laser lights to holes he had drilled in the scoops. The lights were powered by a jumper wire run from the factory light harness using male/female connectors for quick connections of the lights..

I've never missed my lights. Oh, wait.. I've never had lights.

That's a hard choice. If you only use them once a year or so, I'd ditch them and get a smooth hood. I sold HillbillY my Quad Tech smoothie, and he loves it. Do you think there is some way possible to make it so you could remount the stock plastic and lights??

Also, I've seen a 300EX with those cheap Walmart fog lights up on the handlebars ;)

Kill 'em and go with handlebar mounted lights that you can take on and off for night riding.

well i'm not cuttin the fenders..I already have a cut fender and smoothy hood setup for mx. I'm thinkin after i get back from the dealershow in Feb..were i think we'll be doin some night riding..i'm gonna hack off the lights and put a black smoothy on the xc setup too...laser lights will be on my birthday wish list I guess..

PS..the winter project is about 10 days from completion...woo hooo

10-14 days till the release date if all parts come in and i get the mofo thrown back together..I'll have pics and details of what i did when it's complete..which is not getting here fast enough..
