my dad went out and got what he though to be the best of the best... i dont know any of specs to it, but he droped $2700... 10" JL sub, Kenwood Amp, Boston speakers with their own amp, and an alpine head unit... i thought it was weak but he let me drive his truck one day and i cranked it up... it is a badass system.

one of my buddies has a single cab chevy with 2 kicker L7's and a 1200 watt amp... you gotta open the doors so they can move enough air, but it will rock you *** off... i dk what ohms (sp?) hes running, but he said when he puts it on 1 or something ( i dont understand it) he said its too much for you to be in the truck... just on a regular setting it makes your hair stand up. sick

the higher the ohm the more power you can push through it because its resistance. Speakers with a amp are usually 4ohm, speaker with a factory head unit or lower power are usually 2ohm. Speakers at concerts and PA systems like that are like 8ohm. I believe running it on a lower ohm just makes it louder

thank you for clearing that up:)

"the more ohms, the less power, but the more stability, and less heat and amplifier has." i had to look it up after to see if i was in the right direction

yeah i thought it was more is less... i think he runs 4 usually, and could go as low as 1 but 1 was really hard on his stuff, and unbearable in the truck.

when it comes to subs you cant go wrong with any kickers. How much you are looking to drop determines what you get... an 8" L7 (square) is the same as a 10" round. 2 L7's and a sizeable amp is a pretty reasonalbe kickass setup.

Yes you need an amp for subs.

The head unit can only power small speakers well. Doesn't put out enough power to power a sub/subs

What car/truck and what all do you want. I can help you out.

I have 6.5" front door speakers, 6x9 rear deck speakers, 12" subs in the trunk. Still working on the subs but the speakers sound really good you can turn them up and its so clear easily heard away from the car with the doors closed. Stil working on better radio reception I wanted a HD head unit butI got a good deal on this kenwood. my problem is reception theres something wrong with the antenna its really weird somehow it must be grounding out because if you put the 1 screw in its bad reception, take it out and its good, we tried gasket sealer rather than using a screw and it got worse. I think I need a new antenna stock reception was terrible i got 1 station. this head unit i will get a few stations that i want but not always clear. I really hate electronics when I dont understand it and what could be wrong

I've got a '98 F150 extended cab with a Sony Xplod head unit, Xplod 5x7 speakers, 2 10" 1200w Xplod subs powered by a 1200w 2 channel Xplod amp. As far as the subs go, they are facing down under the rear seat with a box from www.hifi-soundconnection.com and the amp is under the driver seat so I haven't lost any seating area.

I had 2 15" Kicker Solo-Barics in my extended cab ranger facing down in a huge ported box that took up every bit of the back seat powered by a 1200w Sony. In bridged mode they were at 2 ohms and sounded awesome. I miss them, especially after buying these Sony's.
