I just got my CFM performance alluminum airbox that includes a lid and wanted to get some of your opinions on running the snorkle and lid as aposed to no lid. I am mostly worried about how much power loss I may see by taking the jet down a size or two and putting the lid on. So help me out guys what do you think.

BTW this is airbox is an awsome piece of workmanship and I will post pics once I have it installed along with my new Hetrick pipe.

Thanks,
Jay

Yeah I run an outerwear now. It is pretty dusty up here that is part of the reason I bought this box. I am probably going to have to put the snorkle on but, I am not sure how much rejetting will be needed if I was to want to throw the lid on at some point.

If you weren't going to run a lid you could of saved about $30 and got the other one they sell without the lid. But i would keep the lid on unless you r are going to race.

I am aware of the fact that I could have got the other one but then when I do need a lid for whatever reason I am SOL without getting a new box. I am mostly jsut wondering what kind of power I may lose by putting the lid on all the time.

Do you have this box? I was thinking I will just install it tonight and put the lid on and see what happens, maybe I will get lucky and not have to rejet.

dyno jet needle on 3rd notch down

I am going to try it this way, just wondered what you guys might think.

That is why I am hoping my jetting won't be bad with the lid on so I know if I need the lid I can run it. Keep the thoughts coming guys.

Jay how about this try with your lid but i think it's going to be starving for air. But all so Outerwears air box lid one Idea.
If this Lid that comes with this box is aluminum have some one
mill a window in it cover it with outerwears materal or somthing.
I would help you cut out the window. That's my ideas:)

Jay you should be ok with the jetting. I run no lid and run a 160 main and it does fine.

Yeah we will just see I guess. I am going to try and install the box with the lid and see how it runs and go from there because I really don't want to rejet because this thing has such good power since the pipe and I don't want to mess that up if you know what I mean.
