Ok guys im buildin up my 400ex and makin a 440. Heres all the mods im gonna get done.

-Curtis Sparks full exhaust
-440 11:1 big bore kit
-450R carb
-heavy duty studs

Im wanting to know if anyone else has ever had this setup or a setup close to this? If so what did you jet the 450r carb to? And after you built it, did you have any problems with any weak parts in the motor that you should've replaced when you built it up?
Any help is appreciated! Thank, Nick

I'd say give it to your brother and let him ride it so his R don't get dirty.

yea, cam chain. i think the crf450 chain works on the 400ex and its MUCH thicker, like an HD cam chain. might want to get a new clutch while you are in there, you are lookin at a nice power increase over stock.

i just hear of so many problems with the 440 kits they say you can get as much or more out of a 416 or 426 my buddy had a 416 with a 450 carb jetting middle clip stock slow and 195 main it kept pulling more and more with more fuel and we varified that jet on the dyno it was real close

X2^^^^^ i never got my 440 to run quite as good as my 426 did. that was the ticket on that quad, 426cc... but do it with a big bore sleeve, boring the stock sleeve that large makes it too thin. my sleeve ended up shattering on my 426, and it took some serious work to get the jug off.
