2004 Predator

Hi guys, I'm think'n of pick'n up a 2004 Predator. Seems like a good deal at $2000. It is in brand new shape with low hours. I had a 400ex a few years back and would like something a bit more powerfull with out the money. I do all trail riding and will not be do'n any mods other then pipe and bars. Is there any advice when look'n at it. What goes wrong with these quads and does it seem like a good deal?

My stock predator threw a counter balancer through the crank case without warning. Just look at the quad as if you were buying a car. Is the air box oil free? brakes? bearings? physical apperance? They are great trail quads out ogf the box. For 2 grand thats a steal as far as i'm concerned. good luck.

I had an 03' Predator. I wouldn't buy it. There are better machines out there. I'd buy another 400ex or a Z400.

My brother has had his 04 since new. He has raced it at many xc races and GNCC races. It's been very solid with just wear item replacements. He had a Z-400 before it, and it was also good, but he had some issues with it. If $2000 is a good deal for you and your happy, then so be it. That 500 Fuji is a very reliable engine.

Sounds like a good deal to me, or around here it would be.

I had a fairly modded 400ex then went to a 05 troy lee predator. It was 10 times better stock then the 400ex. Predator was by far my most reliable atv I have owned.

A buddy of mine recently had his Raptor 700R and YFZ both stolen last spring. He picked up an '04 Predator to ride while waiting on the insurance money. He loves his Predator and did not buy anything else even after getting his insurance money.

The '04 Predator is a solid machine. Polaris made a lot of changes to the '04 model from the '03 model, which had some issues.

I have both and the predator, even out of the box, runs much harder than the 400 modded. 400ex are dirt cheap and equally as reliable, the benefit to the is they are all exactly the same. z400 (older ones) are hard to find good deals and have a few problems of their own but still good bikes overall, def a racier motor than the 400ex
