View Full Version : What kind of maintanence does the yfz450 have to have?

I was just wandering of my second quad im probably goin to get a yfz450. what all do you have to do to them to keep them up and running 100%?

i change the oil after every race. clean the air filter after every ride (very important). grease everything every 10 hours of riding. check the valve tolerances every 35hrs, thats just me though depending on how hard u ride but its not hard to do. and if u want it to last wash it every time when ur done riding and dont put it away wet;) but u should do that with everything anyway

ok thanks. but the only thing out of all that is i dont no wheere the valve tollerances are

all u need is a tolerance sheet a set of shims and a feeler gauge set. and bout 45mins or so. u will need to take off ur tank and valve cover

Checking your valves every 35 hours is overkill. Some riders put 10hours or more on they're bikes on weekend rides. They'll be checking their valves every month lol. If you check them once a year you'll be fine.

I bet I have at least 150 hours on my bike and my valves are still within spec. I love it. :D
