tire size ? I know!!!!????

k boys here it is, will a tire with a shorter wall fit on my 400ex's stock rear wheels? or can i only go with stock size? if i can go with a smaller size tire, what size would it be? i.e. turf taimer

the only stipulation on that is your rim size. if the tire will fit on an 8in rim, in can be as tall, or as short as you want.

stock rears are 9 tall, 8 inches wide

front are 10 inches tall and either 4.5 or 5 wide

breakdown...
20- is the total height of the tire (how tall)
11- is the total width of tire (how wide)
9 - is the rim diameter size

example of rear rim size (stock) 9x8
9- is the diameter of wheel
8- is the width of wheel

As long as you buy a TIRE that has the same DIAMETER, you won't have any problems...??x??x9...and you'll be ok. The WIDTH of the TIRE isn't quite as important. I haven't heard of anybody here running a tire narrower than stock having problems.

If you want a shorter tire, just taking a look at Rocky mountain's web site. Unless you buy different (smaller) diameter wheels, you have one option. Holeshot makes a 18x11x9 MX tire. Everything else, you have to go with a 8x8 wheel. If you go with 8 in. wheels, your option GREATLY increase....holeshots, razors, turf tamers, fast trekkers........

as long as the rim size is the same and the width is close they will fit
