Hi im about to go look at a 2000 400ex tomorrow and was hoping to get a quick reply on this...my friend has a 2003 400ex and was just wondering if there were any major difference between the model years....like speed, weight, power distribution....? was there any differences in the make of the motors? carb size? can someone post a link i can look at or someone just give me some specs on the differences

i want to be able to keep up with his on and off trails

please anything will help out for my thought process

they are all about the same. I personally like the older ones

i believe that the 2003 or 2004 model had a slightly larger carb than previous years. there were no major changes until 2005 when it gained a reverse and different plastics. in 2008, it again underwent a cosmetic only change

as far as the carb size goes, it should not make a noticeable difference in performance to you

i think the carb thing is false I believe it was just the way they measured it. The 2005 have a weaker skid plate and just more wires everywhere thats about it.

check this site out it should answer any questions you may. Most of the changes have been cosmetic and the quad has remained the same since 99. Still one of the best quads ever.

The step by step videos are very helpful. Use the site and this forum and you will never have your quad in the shop.
