Need a question answered quick guys. What gears are controlled by the C1 and C5 gears in a '05 450R transmission?

Such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th.
C5 gear engages C1 gear by means of dogs, the dogs do not have square edges and the webs on C1 are slightly rounded. I have already put $1000.00 into it for a crank going bad and did not catch these gears when I disassembled it and was thinking if it was 1st gear that these gears controlled I would skip them since they were engaging before. but if they were any other gear I would bite the bullet and replace them and not be a cheap skate

Thanks.

You should be able to look at the blow up schematic in the manual and by looking at the input and output shaft, be able to tell which is which. Obviously1st will have a smaller input and larger output for gear reduction. Opposite for 5th gear.

Ok I guess I will show you. If this is incorrect someone please correct me but this is the only way it could be if you figure gear ratios per number of teeth. I didnt find out until after I figured the ratios that Honda numbered the gears in order per pair.......

Gear numbers are as follows per the picture:

1st: Input Gear 1 ; Output Gear 4
2nd: Input Gear 6; Output Gear 7
3rd: Input Gear 9; Output Gear 10
4th: Input Gear 11; Output Gear 13
5th: Input Gear 14; Output Gear 16

Here is the 05 tranny schematic.

Hope that helps.

Yes you answered above and I appreciate it, but. I do not think it is that simple, since you have 3 shift forks and you slide gears on the same shaft together and they combine into clusters of gears from both shafts to give you different gear ratios, so that is why I am not sure which gears give you the gear selection of 1 - 5. Thanks again for your responce as I am not trying to ignore your answer as you may be very well right just seems to simple :)
