I'm taking my newly done 416 (full mods are in signature) out for it's maiden voyage this weekend and I'd like some recommended jets to take with me. What are you guys running? With or without an airbox lid?

Thank's for the reply's. I put in a 175 main today. I figured that I'd rather start out with it running rich than lean. I also am taking a 170, 172, 180, and 185 with me for testing. Anybody else wanna post their jetting setup?

I'd bring along a 165 and 168 along with the others.

My buddy has a 406 and using a 225 main jet with no air box lid, motor was done by PR racing engines.

What, you can't run a 225 jet or close to it , is that what the ?????? means....??? PR racing builds a great engine.

what I'm saying is 225 main is HUGE

and the BOOST that I am referring to is supercharger or turbocharger!!!

I am just think that is a very large main, maybe its right, I just find it hard to believe. As you can see the largest here is a 170-175. stock is 148

also if he NEEDS a 225, why is he still using the stock carb, if it requires that much gas then he also would benefit from more airflow through a larger carb

PR racing gets the biggest bang for your buck on their port and polish work, they're out of Toledo,Oh and have a web site ,if you want to check them out.Why buy a larger carb.?When a jet is only $4.00,and you can bore out the stock one for $75 vs $400 for a bigger carb. The quad runs great with what he is using now.

dad400ex, your talkin about brandon right, i he go his engine done by PR and ended up (thinkin) he needed a 225, but it ended up he was runnin rich, and now he is runnin a 200, but now he is in a whole different ball park, he has a yz426 engine, im runnin a 180, still runnin lean, so im guessing it will be around 185 to 190, my engine was also done by PR

I have pretty much the same mods and ride at Glamis. Right now I run a 168 main and a 42 pilot. without the airbox lid with a K&N and outerware. It is still a little rich I think a 165 or 160 would be perfect. Good luck

225 main must be one he** of a motor

dad400ex
12-21-2002, 04:34 AM
No,I am not talking about Brandon, but know who he is and have bought parts from him in the past. This motor was one of the first they did at PR and since I'm a deciated customer, I always get the biggest bangs for my bucks there. The motor is owned by Matt Wonderlyand this thing kills Rapters, especially in XC type riding.
We can not go by the jet size they use out west or in the south.Go by what Big Lou tells you @ PR and you'll have a as* kicking quad.If you want a motor built with awesome power call PR .............

12-21-2002, 12:28 PM
PR's number is 419-472-2277, call them ask for lou and he wil tell you al the prices for it, he will also explain all the titles there engine has won, its almost impossible to et him to shutup sometimes lol

Thats right, for every purchase comes a story,Big Lou still does all the porting there. The more you purchase the better the deal the next time.Whats nice,is that I e-mail them, and tell Lou Jr. that I need this ,this and that, and they'll have it sitting there in a box for me when I go there.Great Place !!! And when they do motor work they will tell you exactly what to do and explain why.I just can't say enough good things about them.

I think the #'s have yall confused. You can get Dynojet or Keihin jets. If you buy single jets from dealer; they are usully Keihin; Dynojets are sually a 'jet kit". Both look the same but each company uses different methods to calculate main # size. Like a 165 Dynojet is bigger internal hole than a 165 keihin jet. Keep this in mind when comparing jet sizes. (No I dont have a conversion chart from either one)

12-22-2002, 10:35 AM
do keihn jets have a small symbol next to the jet #

mikeboone
12-22-2002, 12:15 PM
Yea, they have a small "K" next to the number

12-25-2002, 09:57 PM
im runnin a 180 kehin jet

thats interesting, i wonder how many people are thrown off by the two different numbering systems? this could explain quite a few arguements on here.
which system are the stock jets?

You can bore a stock carb?

12-26-2002, 02:36 PM
yes

Where in Toledo is PR?? How far from Cleveland?? Maybe I'll have to check them out and have them do my engine work, but I've never heard of them before so I'll see.
