my buddy has a newer lightning...i forget what year...but on the stock pully, he went 12.89. those things can be made pretty quick. pretty nice truck though man. not a fan of red trucks but that looks pretty badass.....

very nice.....i love that model of lightning. if im correct i think those accept a supercharger very easily.

i personally dont like the new blown lightnings as much as the old 351 windsor lightnings.

The charged 5.4's are good motor's though. I'm still a push rod guy. The 351w's are good motor's the 351m's are garbage though.

As far as accepting a super charger, sure almost anything will, but if you go that route, I'd suggest building up the bottom end before the addition of a charger. What is it running for a tranny? Probably an 8.8 out back I'm guessing? The 351's have lots of potential.

This is my brother's 351/396w

I believe this was the morning after the long night of making headers haha. If you ever want to put headers on a v8 in an RBV, haha don't. You'll be there forever.

haha and... this is what happens when it spins in a straight line and catches grip...

The last dyno spec pulled 536hp. This spring the 396 will now received a 408 stroker kit along with a full stand alone holley multi port fuel injection kit, along with a good bit more mods. He's hoping to break the 700hp mark with it, if not, 460 with a 558 stroker kit. Just fyi, the engine will be built to turn 2 1/2 tone axles with probably 48'' tires once the rockwell swap is done.

haha I get excited when I see other 351's. Congrats on the truck man and try to keep the tires on it.

Awesome truck! I think it needs a rollpan in the rear though... not digging the tube bumper...

All the 1st gen Lightnings came with 351Ws.

Its 351w,E4OD tranny, 8.8 rear end with LSD and 4:10 gears
The tube bumper is going to be sold and im getting a roll pan to replace it. 2" lowering shackles, and my stereo from my 86 is going into it.
It was always garage kept and was owned by a ford tech from St. Augustine Florida.

Love it so far!

Nice looking truck I always like the older lightnings.

But here's the competition you'll have to compete too...http://www.gc-classicmusclecars.com/images/lrg90sstruck-1.jpg

Sorry, it may have a 454 in it, but a lightning will eat it. A buddy of mine has one of those. Nice truck, but I though it would've been A LOT faster than what it was.

some time I'll try to get a sound clip of my brother's ranger. It currently broke both the axle blocks in addition to the driveshaft, so it's temporarily out.

Looks/sounds like a nice looking truck. Got her for a decent price too!

yeah lol the TBI 454's were a disgrace power wise, a Vortec 305 could beat a 454ss lol but it still gave the lightning a good run. I'm more of a Chevy guy but Ill give credit when credit is due. I mean ford did prove that a pepped up small block can be as quick as a heavy big block in a similar sized truck. I think the 0-60 times they got for a the lightning was 7.3 seconds and the 454ss got 7.5 seconds 0-60.

Now today those times may not seem too fast considering the vehicles these are but remember these truck back then were Quick!

I agree with that statement. It sucks when you compare an older carbed 454 to a TBI 454. Then everyone thinks all chevys are slow because one of their biggest truck engines is getting beat by a small block ford. Oh well though, I guess only the uneducated people would make fun of a 454 basing their example off of the TBI's.
