Going out to buy one tomorrow. Tell me what you think about both. Leaning towards PS3 because of blueray and free online gameplay. Let me know.

x2 PS3 has some nice features but free online gameplay is not a good thing. Too many online is bad.

ps3 all the way man. Online is free and never packed to the point where you cant play a game. Blueray is just plain amazing. The system is just plain amazing its easy to use and has tons of features. I surf the web on my ps3 all the time and I watch movies and topgear of websites and it looks good. The worst thing about xbox is how much they brake its terrible I havent met a person who has one and not had to get it fixed already.

Is it true that on the newer ps3's they are not backwards compatible with ps2 games. A guy at best buy told me this. I will go with the ps3 because I checked it out and its about the same for an xbox pro with online. Not including the yearly cost of online play. So if anyone has a answer to my question that would be great. I am definitely getting the 80 or 160 gb ps3 though.

The online on the ps3 maybe free but it is horrible compared to 360. multi platform games also tend to be glitchey on the ps3(fallout3 for example). Graphics look identical on both machines.

There aren't any problems with the newer versions of the 360 to my knowledge. Also the game library for the 360 is much larger than the ps3. Xbox live is sooo much more fun than the ps3 online play.

If you're looking for a gaming system go for the 360. If you're looking for a blu-ray player that you can play a couple games on get the ps3. Microsoft is developing a blu-ray drive for the xbox though.

I must be really lucky because i play alot of ps3 online and can honestly say ive never had alot of issues. Pretty much none! I think a key factor is making sure you have a good fast internet connection and to have it wired, not on wireless. To say the online gameplay is horrible in general compared to the 360 is pretty funny. From someone thats has done both, they are in the same league with online gameplay in my opinion.

Thank you
Justin

PS3!!! All the way... It might be a little more money but as online gaming goes i think they are about the same. And you have so many more options on the PS3. I have had my PS3 since they came out and i have had no problems at all. LOVE IT WOULD NOT CHANGE.

Go with a 360, the online play is amazing, you pay $7 per month to use it, but you pay for what you get! Its amazing, and everytime i play my ps3, no one has a mic, so there is no communication, and its laggy as hell! 360 has great game out now, and most game companies focus on it more because it is the primary online system, thats why they test all betas on it. If you put it in a vented area, it wont get the rrod. The ps3 and 360 have the same graphics basicly, because again, companies focus on it, and basicly past it in ps3 format. You will be more happywith the 360, my ps3 just gathers dust in the corner, stupid ps3...

One more thing, you should post this on a site like yahoo answers, because im pretty sure this site has more ps3 fans. You need a bigger crowd to get a good idea of what you should get. Most people say that the system they own is the best because they own it, and havnt played the other, and are going on opinions of what others say about it.

PS3, no dought, and idk wat you guys are talking about with the online lag, mine has never lagged once, x-box's are just old tech, my bud sold his cuz it kept freezing every 10min, blu-ray is a deff bonus, and you can get the upgraded hard drive for ur PS3. but hey its ur call....

I got an Xbox 360 for christmas recently and love it to death:D

Im so used to the PS2 the graphics look amazing.

Plus it's really user-friendly, has a ton of options, and billions more games.

Everyone always says the xbox breaks, but honestly, most people never bother to air-dust the inside. Most people put them in confined spaces.

If you give them some open space breathing room and dust it occassionally it will be fine. Ive been playing like nonstop for 3 days since I just got it and it never once felt really hot or glitched or w/e

The xbox 360 is not old tech, hell the graphics look the same as the ps3's, and will most likely always be like that because companies focus on it more. Microsoft has alot of money no doubt, therefore they usually buy the rights to alot of dlc, demos, betas, ect...(dlc=downloadable content) Look at the upcoming gtaiv dlc, its 360 only, look at the recent cod:waw beta, 360 and pc only. Im not saying its better, im saying it gets more stuff, and more attention.

I played both and just got the 360. mostly because most of my friends have it so we can race every night and everyone has a mic.

To be honest, if all my friends had a PS3, i would have gotten one, haha there both awesome.

I vote PS3.

I was waiting until RE5 comes out to get it, but jumped the gun and bought one in November with PURE (ok, by itself, wicked fun on line!) and Resistance 2 (pretty good), now I have MGS4 - (freaking great), Drakes Fortune(really good), GTAIV (pretty good), SILENT HILL5 (which I haven't played yet).

Xbox is ok, but I haven't seen a game that made me say "I gotta have one"

I haven't played xbox on line, but I have played PS3 online. It seems that people with flaky network connections cause problems. If your network sucks, that would be a key factor in any online glitches. Although, I can't say I have never had glitches, I am able to continue on without crying about it.

I have fiber optic internet running right up to my house, so I don't think network problems are coming from my system.

PS3 for sure.

Unless you are a pro racer or something. Then, of course, you would know what is more important without asking.:)
