Why are they so expensive

Because of the time it takes to build. Most were hand built by one person. Mike Walsh, Mark Laeger, and Dave Porter, Doug Roll, and all those guys built each frame themselves. LSR & Arens had some kind of production line.

Think about this though. If you had to replace the stock frame on a TRX450 more than once you would exceed the price of an aftermarket frame. I believe the price on a TRX450 frame is close to $1000 new from Honda.

I'll sell you my hybrid frame, or my entire hybrid, it needs motor work done to it...

There's a post with all the info lower down on this part of the forum..

Frames are expensive to make. My custom atc250r frame cost me over 2g's and that was truly a labor intensive job. Now the same guy is building 2 replica frames, one with a crf450r motor and another with a 200x motor. Doing different brake parts, crf gas tanks, pro-pegs, pipes, suspension, airboxes and motor mounts, talk about labor intensive!!!!!!! Thankfully, the 2 motors are a similar size, so its less work. Ask 250renvy about his crf450r/trx250r frame and how much work in involved in his, maybe more than mine. The longest/hardest time is getting the chain to line up with the rear sprocket and with it being on similar level as the pivot bolt(to avoid chain flying(may 350rx conversions suffer this badly). Designing a frame isn't that hard, making it handle right and not fling chains is the key to a well designed frame.
