250r rebuild

over the past year ive been buying a lot of parts to rebuild my 250r and only riding it mabey 3 times or a total of an hour...well ive finally got to a point to where i feel like i can start my rebuild..i work fulltime and go to school fulltime,i also have my girlfriend in school fulltime so keep in mind i do what i can with the money i have left each week so everything may not be brand new or the best name...

anyways the brand new parts ive recieved over the year has been a quad tech Naca Duct hood, HydroDynamic +2+1 complete front end, phantom shocks,esr 310 cylinder,...i also bought a bottom end from stever250r with new cases and 89 clutch update kit along with a few other things...

im still looking for a few things though, steering stem,rear shock,and oem type plastics for my hood..im running a stock frame unfortunely but like i said i have to watch my funds...i will have it powder coated and gusseted..im going to do this right so it may take a month or two but ill update you as soon as i start..

also keep checking because ill have my old stuff for sale....complete running engine,lonestar a arms,works shocks,race cut plastics and a few other odds and end im sure will come up..

if you guys have any parts or ideas please tell me...

i started tearing my bike down this weekend. i got it down to about a roller getting ready to start sending parts to the powder coater. i also got the engine off and take some pics.

this is the engine that came off it..it for sale.runs excellent.brand new piston and rings (66.75 mm bore) cylinder does not need to be bored,new mechanical seal and water pump.shifts smooth.the case saver bolts are broke due to chain damage..$300 plus shipping

just as an update...parts are at the powder coaters...flame red frame, gloss black everything else.ill post pics when i get it back.still in need for white plastics that will fit my hood and an exhaust.i would like trx 5 or ct mid.

Yea I dont know about the graphis either, I just threw it out there because they were white and seemed nice. But anyway where did you find that naca duct hood thats my favorite style

Ah bummer about the plastics but you got one hell of a deal on that hood! you could probably sell the hood and get yours self NEW plastics haha j/k keep it, its gunna look nice and im sure you'll find a set of plastics sooner or later.

Mine has along way to go. Your arms are about the last thing I will be able to get for it for a while unless I get some money to spend on it that just falls out of the sky. I would still love to get your motor in the future if I can and you still have it. I will post a couple of updated pics of mine once I get those arms on it.

Did you know you're running an '87-89 style piston in an '86 cylinder ?

I bet the rod is an '87 style (HA2 stamped on the beam)

Are you selling it because the power wasn't that impressive ?

Maybe......Try running the '86 style piston and a spacer plate ?

the frame is an 87 but the engine is out of an 86, and yes i noticed that when i took it apart.would it run better with the 86 piston?why?the man i bought it from must have put the wrong piston in it.

Not that I know all that much about the R motors but I would think from the little bit that I have learned that if the motor had the 87-89 crank, which is a longer rod if I am correct, and the piston to go along with it, then it would be more of a low to mid range motor. That should make it better for the woods.

I would think the short rod motor would make it spin up faster and hit harder. Better for a track.

I am going to be building mine as a mild trail ride that will mainly be a play machine. And I want the wife to be able to ride it too. So that motor or that year range would probably be good for what I want to do with it.

What does the spacer plate do for the motor if you have a long rod motor?

its been a while and work has been slow but i have been making some progress..these pics are without the engine on..ill be picking it up tomarrow..i went with the new esr 310 kit,brand new oem long rod crank,v force 3 reeds,trx5 pipe esr silencer,38mm air striker,replaced all bearings and seals in the engine with oem parts,new tranny gears...the works...frame wise i stayed stock but put a gusset kit in it.i replaced all seals and bearings and powder coated everything...the rear shock is stock but i have a tcs thas taking its place, im just waiting to get the springs back from the powder coaters..the gas tank in the pics does not have the cover yet..still waiting on it..all and all i think it will make a fine trail,play,and ocasional mx messing around quad..i dont race and when i do its just for fun
