ok not to long ago i broke my clutch pin in my trx400 so i thought if im fixin it its a good time to put in new parts in im goning to but the 450r carb in and the 15 teeth sprocket. i already have a t-4 pipe and .50 on piston, stage 1 cams. my buddy has a ltr 450 wit all that done do u think it should be even on top end and power

With that you will still be outrun. If you were on a track and you were a better rider, then yes it could be done, but power wise you will still be way down. You would have to go a little deeper into it to start to hang with a stock 450.

i would say you need at least a 426 but a 440 will be better for the low end getting through 1-3 gear but he will still beat u on top end so if u did do a 440 kit i would get a stage 2 or 3 hotcam and go up 1 teeth on the sprocket up front and that should do it

with the mods i have in my sig, i'm stayin side by side with a 450R that has a k&n and removed spark arrestor. I think it would be possible with a 426 and a stage two cam to outrun a YFZ.

Nope, doubt it. My buddy had a 440 with stage two cam, and it was close. But that was with all my XC part and tired motor.

yeah realisticly its gonna be hard to run with a 450 in a straight up run, regardless of the motor work you have on a 400ex,they spool up so much faster, almost like a 2 stroke.now a good rider can win on a 400ex on a track or in the woods but in a straight up drag,i dunno i havent seen one win or even be close, even so called "440s"..

i'm serious when it warms up i'll get a video of it. i'm side by side with my brother on his 450r, and it's consistant not just every now and then. But my cousin has a 07 yfz and he blows both of us away

im not doubting it can be done,im just saying its hard because of the differences in the motor.i ride with a buddy of mine that has a 450er thats bone stock and on my 400ex with a pipe and kand n,its not even a race,im not even in his league. Now i do have about 40lbs on him but still.. I have since added a high comp piston and cam and a fcr,i havent even ridden it yet but im sure it wont be a 450 beater either.

I weigh around 125 pounds and my brother weighs about 140 pounds, and i wasn't meaning it to sound like i was offended, i'm used to people not thinking i can do it, but when it warms up and i get my 400 back together i'll get a video and post it up. i'm gonna re-jet it so it should run a little bit better too

i still think the guy that owned it before you bored your 400 over some. it pulls significantly harder than mine.

idk he might have, he told us that it had a high comp piston and the slip on e-series, other than tha, it was stock. Jeff had a 02 400EX with a T-4 full system before he got his yfz and mine would pull on it even then
