Hey Guys,
What settings would you suggest for the Main, Needle and Idle jets for a Keihin PWK 38mm carb? I am now bogging when I hit the throttle and am unsure what the proper settings should be. Motor specs below.
- 1989 LRD 265 PV
- Full LRD Adjustable Exhaust
- I run a 50/50 mix premium gas and VP Racing C-12
- 32 to 1 oil mix
Keep in mind, my riding temperature is now about 40 to 50 degrees F and I am at about sea level.
Thanks,
G

DEG OR DEJ needle
clip in the middle position
180 main jet
50 pilot jet (if cranking compression is over 200)
52 pilot jet (if between 180-200)
55 pilot jet (if under 180psi)
air screw turned out 1.5 to 1.75 turns.
This is a base line setup....

Thank you. Would you think these recommendations would be correct given the 40 to 50 degree temperatures at sea level?
Thanks,
G

Can you please explain why these pilot jet settings differ depending on compression ?

the more compression, the better the scavenging effect the carb has.
More velocity across the emulsion tube, the smaller the pilot needs to be.

YES..........I live in oregon and I ride at sea level in the dunes. Most of the time the weather isnt much warmer than that all year.
