I have been lookin at the idea of make an atv side off road buggy. Why not start with an old ody or pilot chassis? I just have a few qustions about them. Engine swaps? Any body ever do one? I was thinking of a 400ex or xr650 engin I know overkilll but I want something that is stupid fast. I dont know about the trans tho were the 400 and the 650 engin has the trans in it. Is the odu and pilots the same? I also want to do an engine swap for prarts is so much easyer to find for a ex or xr engine.
I would also want to make it some-what long travle like mod the chassis for fit 400ex +2's arms But dont know how to do the rear end. Or is there another way.
Thank you. JARFLY

As far as chassis mods, I don't think there is a lot you can do.

i would think you would start out with one the new sxs/utvs like a RZR or etc.

heard of a pilot with a LT500 motor in it... and i think the last couple years of the Pilot the motor was a 400 cc... a 2 stroke would be much faster than the same size 4 stroke motor

and there are a ton of chasis/suspension mods. the baja racers and the old Mickey thompson series got some pretty cool stuff made/designed/available...
