Running Rough

my 250r seems to be a little rough in first and second gear
comes alive better when third and fourth are in, seems like
sputtering in first and second, have mixture screw out
1-1/2 turns, a little more open???? dirty carb?????
not warmed up enough??? i know it could be anything.
any ideas appreciated, thanks

is this initially, after the engine is allowed to warm up to operating temps and go for a spin? how does it perform after running it through the gears, shutting it off for a few and then riding it a few minutes later? how rich is your pilot?

for the most part fuel can build up after a cold start up and simply needs to be burnt out. all of my R's will do this but once i clear them out everything is fine.

thanks for the input, seems to run better as it warms up
contacted prior owner, previous gas at 1/2 tank sat for
approx 5 months, guess that could do it

changed gas, let it warm up more, scary fast!!!!!!!!!!
