My son has a 05 Viper 90R and either he is just getting bigger or he has worn the front shocks out. The front is way to soft. We bought this new for him in early 05, so it's almost 4 years old and he beats the crap out of it. He'll be 12 in March and the quad is getting a bit cramped for him.

I'm looking for a set of reasonably priced front shocks - can't justify buying new Elka, Pep, etc. I'm also interested in better front a-arms, nerf bars, and tires/rims.

I was going to buy some cheap ones on EBay until I read on the forum that they are junk.

Thanks,
Dan

Heck Dan buy Crosby's E-ton and get it all........cheeper. Take what you want off it and part out the rest......there's a good 2 stroke race motor on it.......I know I gave him the clutchs......lol that things got a $800.00 DC round housing swing arm on it.

Mike - I've emailed him a few times. It's a bad time of year to be dropping another $1k. I agree though that I can't buy all those parts for close to that - it's a good price for the quad. I told him I'll contact him after the holidays if things should change. My son doesn't race - all woods/mud/wet riding, so the motor would need de-tuned and a few other changes:)

I should have figured that - I think they are pretty much the same. If my son's are worn out, that woudl work, but I'm not sure they are worn out or if he's just to heavy for them now. For $70 vs $400 - it may be worth a shot:)

We havea 2003 eton 50 with low hours on it. The front is very stiff stock , even stiffer then my 300ex front suspension
How muchdoes your son weigh?

He's just shy of 100 lbs. The front shock were just about right when we bough it at the softest setting. Now it's on the stiffest and the wheels are up so much it affect the camber/caster and steering.

My oldest son is 70 lbs 80 with full gear,, He complains it is too stiff for him. They are probably worn. What about having them rebuilt or having the springs changed.

I have a set off a 06 90cc DRR that might work. Been rolling around in the back of my car for two weeks you can have all three for 35.00 shipped.

Rcarroll,

Can you measure the front shocks? If they are close, for $35 I'll try it. I know the DRR is a dual a-arm quad, but maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks,
Dan

I know your looking for a better suspension set up ..etc & I know you said you wanted to keep reverse ..etc..

heres an idea ,..throw your motor in( for reverse etc) the mini eton I am selling & with lots suspension mods done already & then put my motor in your present quad & sell it to recover your $'s

I'm thinking about it and to be honest if it was anytime of year but x-mas, I would probably do it. It's my best option at this point to get all the stuff to make his quad better.

Well, after bringing the Viper 90 into the garage today and looking at the changes needed to make it comfortable for my son, I decided to not do any major mods and sell it. He is just to cramped on it now. He want's more power, but I don't think he really needs it:). The ergonomics are all out of whack. I don't know what I'll move to - probably 4 stroke 125 or bigger. My other son has a Breeze 125 that works well in the woods - not much for suspension though!!!

Maybe I should take my 300ex frame and try to put in one of those GY6 150cc motors - anyone every try this? He said he would rather not shift - he rode his cousins blaster a couple of times.
