Google AVG free edition works great

Avast is BY FAR the BEST free anti-virus ive ever used. Even the free home edition (what I have) is better than the norton I use to have.

It's free. It deleted one of the worst viruses ive gotten to date that other people have had to wipe out there systems to fix.

oh man that is a NASTY one. My friend got it on his computer looking at porn I already had avg on it but it didn't stop it becuase he downloaded it even though it came up saying it was a virus. You do not need virus protection you need a spyware removal software.

I used spybot search and destroy and zone alarm and ran each about 10 times to get rid of everything. Also went into ad remove programs and uninstall all the crap that is listed that it puts on your computer.

I think norton is terrible back when i was playing Wow, Wow came up and told me that it detected a trojen before norton did and i scan my computer at least 10 times with no results then i downloaded avg and it found over ten viruses and the trojen and deleted them

i really doubt it will remove it you need to manually do it using multiple spyware programs.

I have avg and it works ok. Only thing I hate is for no reason it will turn its virus pertection off and then I get a virus and then it takes me for ever to get rid of it.
Mine does a scan every day at 3pm and if it finds a virus it moves it to the vault and i click delete/remove.

I got the one that had a little red circle with a white x in it in that little area at the bottom right of the screen, and it had this little bubble that said
"Windows has detected a spyware infection! Click here to get rid of this"

Or something to that affect. It had like 3 grammer errors. Basically a spyware companies putting them on your computer to make you think you have a spyware and pay to get THEIR spyware program to rid of it.

This world is so nucked up:ermm:

EDIT: Avast was able to delete it:cool:

Well, I just downloaded Windows Defender (Microsoft) and its scanning right now.. :ermm:

And I found one spot on my computer where Antivirus 360 was hiding and I got rid of that, but there has to be more, because the f'in pop-ups keep acomming!

reformatting a computer is not a anti virus it just restores your computer back to new you use the disks that you got with your computer. The only bad thing is you loose everything on your computer but you can always put things on photobucket or email them to your self. I am sure there is a step by step website out there on how to reformat your computer i did mine and it wasnt that bad i have vista and caught a virus that is going around my college through thumb drives.

Hey guys! :D

Just as a little update, I have been letting avast! scan through all my stuff for awhile now (all day today) and I think it got it! It said it had found malware and it was ricky it is just got it right there, while it is activated, so it said to reboot the computer and then it will get it in the rebooting process, before the virus gets a change to even open.. and since then.. I havn't had a pop up!!! I just hope I havn't spoke too soon, however. But, I did go to take a nap @ 4 and just woke up, and there hasn't been a pop up! I am just running it again for kicks and giggles, to see if it picks up anything else too. So far it cought 1 minor (seeming) one, and one really big one.. so, lets see what happens next!

Thanks everyone for your contributaion to this thread, but thank you, Eric, the most. You reccemended avast! and it is an amazing program. Real easy, relitivily fast, and gets-r-done!!

I've been using Avast for damn near ten years now. Never ever have I had a problem. Just don't forget to update it and renew your account every year.

I told ya so:p

Avast got rid of a couple bad viruses for me. If it's really bad, it'll find it when you restart the computer because it starts up faster then the virus. So it catches it in the act.
