ive been trying to budget and assemble all the stuff to upgrade 10.5:1 JE , Hotcam II, XR headgasket, 400ex Base gasket, pipe

but thats where it gets fuzzy, the nearest dealer is 45 min away, im going to get a friend to help me and make a weekend of it.

to get to the point what other gasket/parts will i need? i dont want to have to wait till the part comes in to put everything back together.

ive been trying to compile a list but i'd be very upset to leave her apart while i wait for a $3 seal or something.

thanks for the help

valve seals go underneath the spring on the valves. they keep oil from going into the combustion chamber. your dealer should have all this stocked or try www.servicehonda.com

i pm'd you about the tach.

you dont press on the seals there rubber. you press on the broach.

DO NOT USE THE EDgES OF THE BROACH to press off. it will brake. use the decompresser part

if you dont plan on pulling the valves then it doesnt matter, i lapped mine after cleaning up the ports to remove some of the carbon build up

gaskets needed

base gasket and o-ring
head gasket
valve cover gasket
copper exhasut gaskets

thats all you really need.

o-ring i never even noticed it in there, thanks

what about the gasket between head pipe / tail pipe? will i need that for a slip on or do they just fit?

thanks for the help

slip ons fit right on, no gasket

the o-ring is used by some and not by others?

i put one on mine. it was like 2-3 bucks

goes along with the base gasket
