just cleaned the carb, put it all back together.

Problem is when you are riding & gas it 1/2 to full it bogs.

so whats my problem? the quad is all stock

I just want it to run so I can get it sold.

could be that lil arm that lifts the slide, or the main jet could be loose or something.

took the carb out again cleaned it better. It needed it. 1st time i was in the shop next time I looked at it outside. anyway put it back now it runs to fast & the idle adjustment doesn't make a difference. I am gonna try that screw on the outside of the carb. It was at 2 1/2 turns - hopefully that will work. I also drained the old gas & put new in but its a pain undoing everything just to do the carb stuff. Thanx.

I have an 87 250x, which is basically the same exact thing as the 300ex. Mine did that before, and i have a carb completely rebuilt by one of my friends that race. It fixed the problem and it works perfect now. it isnt very expensive and well worth it. you can pick it up at any honda shop. they will more than likely have to special order it. GOOD LUCK!

I don't think I need to rebuild anything. it needs to be clean good & the adjustments need to be made. I'll let ya know how I make out. Gotta get ready for friday's snow storm.

2 1/2 sounds like alot you should be able to find out what the screw should be call a dealer

OK its fixed & runing good. So the carb needed to be cleaned good. Mission acomplished

Next the reason it was running so fast it was the outside screw just above the idle screw (outside the carb). I said it was at 2 1/2. I backed it out ( which gives it less gas) So that means you tighten it all the way down then back it out to 3 rotations.

That solved my problem. Now just hope the guy that wanted to buy it calls me back.

Does your throttle cabe have any slack in it?

When I hooked the cable back up to the carb it did not. When I used the thumb throttle it worked just fine. I never checked on the handlebars

It will idle high if the cable is really tight. Try giving it a little more slack on the bars and see if that helps.

I'm all fixed it was that screw on the outside. I had it at 2 1/2 turns backed out. It should be at 3. Run great, the dudes coming friday to take it home :) . Bring cash
