I was wondering what all you have to do to run alky or E85. I know the jets are way bigger, but what do you have to do. carb, fuel pump, bigger lines, anything that needs changed, I need to know everything.

Search my name there should be a post about it. I asked the same question. I believe they said need to be like 20-45percent richer, and have to get e 85 approved lines. Alky dunno.

Just a question... Why would you ever want E-85? I never run less than 93. But I also have an 11:1 piston. I also see you are from Q-C. Me too... Where do you ride?

E 85 is like 100+ octane rating thats why some people run it so they dont have to run race fuel.

i ran e85 in mine one weekend, it is a performance boost. my ex was running like a 2 stoke for real.

Does anyone know what all needs to be changed?

I mostly ride at a place called haritage, but I just found a new spot in silvis. There is a place in colona I like to ride when there is snow, and every once in a while I go to solon.

I need some more places to go, so I don't annoy the people that live around there, My bike is a little loud for riding close to residential area's.

i would assume that you would have to change your jets because e85 does not have as much energy as gasoline so you burn more to get the same effect but i am not sure if you would need anything else.

you need to add 25% to your jets. there is debate about the fuel line some say it eats it but alot of gas has 10% ethanol anyway so the proper fuel line should of been fayzed in long ago.also it can be hard to start when cold thats why some people run it 50/50 e85 and 93 octane

I'm running a 165 dj now, is there somewhere to get big enough jets? I only have a 170 dj bigger, which would be a 190k. How big do they have for k jets?

so your saying if i wanted to run e85 i just hot to mix it 50\50? has anyone done this?

k mains go up to like 215. i think the 190k would be big enough but it also depends on the temp and altitude. you will need like a 52 pilot jet to get it to start easy. thats about what i ran but im on the coast at sea level so the air is more dense (richer) also it was summer and hot so it would be a little leaner so it kinda evened out. yes the 50/50 mix is a good trick to to stop spark not and not pay for race gas.

We have used E85 in some of the drag bikes we build. It has a normal gain of about 10% HP on the dyno over race gas. I have not seen any need to change hoses on the fuel system. We use a special need with a much more aggressive taper in the FCR carb and start by increasing the jetting by about 25 % then tune it on the dyno. We have also used it in a KFX450 without any problems it just takes some time to get the settings right.

here is what I see as a problem. I need a 190k jet when its cold out, so if I convert to E-85 I would need a 237.5k jet to be 25% righer. I also just bought a 450r carb and I know you need bigger jets because they have less of a signal from being bigger, Is there another way to go with bigger jets in these carbs? I use dynojets now, but I my biggest jet is a 170.

We offer up to a 230 main jet and after that you can drill the to size. You may look into getting an FCR carb we have needles available for them that are much better suited for e85 than a std needle.

We sell a 39mm and a 41mm direct bolt in FCR carb for the 400ex. They are $550 with the throttle cable. I can provide it with E85 needle pre installed.
