In what years I have to watch out for what?

OK, I will try to explain.. haha

In what years (04+), what years have some problems that I'd have to watch out for if I do purchase one. What years are better for XC than others? And like the 'oil mod,' what is that?

dont worry about it and just buy an 07+. easy as that.

I don't have that kind of money tho.. I would buy like an 04-06

07+ changed the oil pump, go with that.

well get an 06 then. the 07's have better oil pump and shocks. as well as a better injector at the bottom of the piston for better cooling.

04-06 had crank problems(this was fixed in 07 with the oil mod)
04 had the faulty decompression plug that always came out(was fixed in 05)
04-05 were only a 439(their were made a true 450 in 06 with a longer crank)
now im sure there are alot more things im kind of drawing a blank right now but if i were u i would look for an 07+ there are plenty of good deals out there, i have an 08 and it is a really solid bike i bought it brand new for 5999 from the dealer

I HAD AN 06 WITH A JARDINE EXHAUST AND MY FRIEND HAS AN 05 WITH A SPARKS EXHAUST AND THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH OIL PUMPS OR CRANKS BOTH WERE RACED VERY HARD FOR OVER 2 YEARS

they were pretty good til the last couple of months then the oil pumps went out

04-06 are fine they made some refinements but i ran 04 and 05 on the same crank for 5 years no issues, there all very reliable just get one thats been taken care of
