I checked it out at the North American International Auto Show last year. All I can say is it took me about 2 hours to recover. If you think it looks good in the picture, you really need to see it in person. It is the V-10 from the Viper. The 500/500/500 combo (HP/torque/cubic inches) and it comes with the 6-speed, not some lame auto tranny like a Ford Lightning (and I am a Ford guy who does love the Lightning). It also comes with the brakes off of a Viper as well. I think they go on sale this fall and the $45,000 price does sound about right.

its a sports truck that needs lifted, personally, i feel sorry for speed bump scrapers, and wish to just blow them up to end their misery, but if it floats your boat to drag your belly on a curb, thats cool with me

thats the like srt ram i think right? my sisters b/f had a ram 1500 with a supercharger n all ran a 13.2 it was so fast for a pickup n it still hauled my quad haha that truck looks wicked awesome

You can bet that I will be in line when they are released!!! i dont like how the wheels are black though, i think either chrome or polished aluminum looks awesome with black paint, then again they will make the truck in red too, so that might be the way I go!!

ive been reading about this for months. its all identical to a viper with the exception of some suspension stuff. exact same motor, tranny, brakes and maybe the rear-end. its top speed is 156 w/ a 0-60 in 4.9.

syclone is still 0-60 king w/ 4.6. try harder dodge

i do love how it looks thogh, that new fat grille looks awesome in black with the bilet inserts

I have a feeling that that is going to cut into the viper sales. More cargo room, almost the preformance, and half the price...damn straight! Cyclone was 4.6? Holy crap, I didnt know they where that quick!

i heard the viper motors detuned though. the truck only puts out around 350 hp. if thats true it will still be nice but never touch the lightning.

the motor isnt detuned, Its a srt-10 v10 with 500 (500 everything, lol).
Those are 24" WHEELS!!! What's not to like?
This truck has been out for about a YEAR now and Has been my dream truck for a year now, lol :D

But I'll be o.k. with my 96' ram with a 360 on 20's :D

the dodge is the fastest truck, in top speed that is.

a syclone was a 90-92 gmc s-15 throttle body 4.3 vortec AWD TURBO. 4.6 0-60, 13.08 1/4 mile. 280 hp. yes they were THAT fast. all were black and all were bad *****.
ever notice not too many people called a grand national the "corvette killer" after 1989? that was thanks to the syclone. it is my absolute dream truck

Well if the syclone is AWD then that would explain it, we all know if that Viper Ram was an AWD it would push 4.6 sec out of the way!! Now I remember them talking about that, how if it was all wheel drive how much faster it would be. could you imagine trying to keep a very light rear wheel drive truck with 500 HP in a strait line on the start?? Maybe it was the fastest 0-60 time for a rear wheel drive truck!

i thought they werent going to produce this truck because they couldnt keep the back tires from spinning... im deffinitly not a dodge fan and love the lightnings but the viper and now possibly the srt 10 are an acception... i just wish they would put some normal rims on it instead of the "ghetto riders" lol thats like putting giovanis on a 57 chevy come on what gives? same thing with the harly f-150 rims=ugly lol i would by that and reinforce everything throw in a tourqe converter and a dana 60 front rear raise it like 10 inches maybea little less slap some super swamper 44s under it and take it to beat right next to my ranger in the mud

i love syclones..i had one about 4 years ago...awd is what made them so quick...not only that however.they had a corvette tranny...and..the turbo also did its thing too..hard launching is an understatement...if you spooled the turbo just right under brake and launched it....there isnt much that could hang...

360 lb ft of torque...and around 330 hp..in that small package...

there are still several 10 second sy's around that will run 10's

and that are nearly stock :D

if that srt dodge was awd....it wouldnt be legal for the street...lol

that truck motor will not be the same as the viper. the motor won't have enough torque for a truck so the will tune it different.. anyways the new 5.4 in the navigator will be going in the lightning soon and will still some that chryster junk.

it is the EXCACT same motor, tranny, running gear and brakes as the '03 viper

guess what? the lightining has been a 5.4 for some time now

this truck is also not meant to be used as a work truck either. this is a race car with a truck body, just like the syclones. the lightining was made to be multi purpose. it can be raced and used for hauling a trailer etc. the ram and syclone are strict race trucks

MX and brad, you are both right. The current Lightning is a 5.4 with the standard SOHC 2 valve heads. The next generation Lightning (due as an '05 model) is rumored to have the Navigator's 5.4 which has DOHC 4 valve heads. That's why the Nav has 300HP while the standard 5.4 in trucks and Expeditions only has 240HP. Also, for the next generation F-150 (comes out next fall as an '04). The full V-8 line up is supposed to come with new SOHC 3 valve heads to help bring the HP and torque ratings up to a more competitive level with GM and Dodge. I will be checking them out in 3 weeks when I go to Detroit for the NAIAS where they will be on display.

I think you mean a transfer case, not a torque converter. The swap would be much more involved then that though. With a dana 60, you would have to cut out the whole front end pretty much. You would be better off getting a 4x4 ram and swaping in the engine. I dont see why you would want that truck lifted tough, that seems like a really bad idea, that much power 10 more inches up? And I am sure it would wheel like crap with that much power. Seems kinda pointless to me, but whatever ya like!

i work at a Dodge dealer as a machanic. the V-10 Block in the truck is made differant than the one in the Viper. the angle the pistons are at are differant. i think the Viper is an aluminum block, the truck is a cast block.

I know it wouldn't have near the power but I would have rather seen their new hemi slightly built in that thing instead of the V-10.

Ford has something new up their sleeve for the Lightning. This SRT10 will not go unanswered. Look for dual superchargers on the 04 Lightning.

I think my dream truck would be an 03 Lightning with the Harley twennies.... Dropped about three in the front, fo in the back.

Chad, excellent looking truck. My friend brought one home from Randall Noe with 20's, grill, and Flowmasters. That V6 sounded pretty good, but got annoying after driving it from Terrell to Winnsboro.

It's not a built up current model V10 from the truck, it's the aluminum V10 from the new viper..

It's actually MORE potent than the current generation viper motor.. It's the same powerplant / tranny / brakes from the next generation viper..

If you haven't taken a ride in one of the new Hemi's yet, your missing out.. Signifigantly better performance on the street than the current V10 trucks (which are dogs).. The day it becomes available in a 1/2 ton truck with a stick is the day I trade :D The Hemi will eat up the old 5.9 V8 makes it feel like more like a V6 (and the old 5.9 was pretty snotty..!)

Yeah, right:rolleyes: For what you get with the upgraded suspension, custom 2-tone leather interior, and of course, the powertrain, they are far from being overpriced. You do realize that the tranny is upgraded and far better than the standard F-150 slushbox and you also get the heavy duty 9 3/4" rear end instead of the 8.8" that comes with a standard F-150, don't you? If you have driven one or seen what less than $1000 in mods will do to these trucks, you would take back that quote.

Leo, are the Hemi's not available in a half ton yet?? I seen a new Dodge the other day that had the hemi sticker on the side of it? I have been waiting to get some feedback on it because I have been thinking about getting me one,,, I really like the SRT-10 but a single cab gas guzzler might not be real convenient for me, however the power would!!! I would like to get the Hemi in a 4 door stick shift,,,I have to have the 4 door!!

You can get the Hemi in the 1500, but only with an auto. Its something that just came about recently as a mid-year option.

we haven't seen any 1/2 ton's at the shop yet with the hemi, but I guess we have some ordered? So far all we've gotten with the Hemi are 2500, 4 door, 4wd's..

The 4.7 is a great motor and really hauls my Dakota around good, but I don't know if I'd want one in a full size, 4 door truck..

Yeah he ended up getting an 03 blue V6. He took the one from Noe back and bought one in Mineola. I think it ended up right around $18K.

I don't really like the look of that truck. It would take me about $5K to make it look how I wanted it to. I'd rather have the 24's. Those tires are a little too wide, they don't fit the rim good. Some people just don't know how to make a low truck look good!

Leo, I have the 4.7 in mine with the towing gears and mine pulls better than my other 318 does, matter of fact it pulls better than the 350 in my Z-71!!!

Yeah I think the wheels and tires on that truck are ugly, i would have to have some billet 24's on it with some low pro's!!!!
