View Full Version : New Warrant Bulletin Flywheel Bolts/Engine Mount

this was released tuesday

Under frequent engine starting conditions, the fly-
wheel bolts may lose torque, potentially causing
major engine damage. Installing new bolt type
with increased torque will prevent this situation.
Also, while developing the DS 450 X mx and X xc, and through subsequent race testing, it has been found that aggressive riding can result in failure of the rear engine mount. While under normal riding conditions this type of failure would only occur after a significant amount of time, given the "aggressive and intense sport usage" of the DS 450; it is mandatory to update all crankcases with the racing rear engine mount sleeve

Thanks! How do we keep up on these bulletins? I would have never known unless you told me. Does this mean they should do the work for free? I just bought an 09 few days ago.

this is for 08's only.

i don't believe it is a recall. so people may not know. but it is warranty work so it should be done for free.

i recommend having your dealer do the work. the engine/swingarm mount hole needs to be drilled out to fit the new sleeve. BRP is sending special drill bits to dealers for this. (unless you're in good with a dealer an can borrow the bit ;) )
that being said
part number....

sleeve 293-900-093

green loctite is used on the sleeve and new mount hole. install sleeve and let cure for 5 min.

install new o-rings 709-000-089

they found this out while developing the '09 x mx and xc. Which means they probably changed it on the 09's

My bike is still under warranty so it is covered, not sure if they are covering all bikes or just warranty claims.

Well, that's beautiful. They admit that there's a problem, and they have a fix for it, but since my quads are out of their 6 month warranty they wont do anything for me...... Glad I dropped $15,000 on them.....
