The rebuild has begun!

Well i took my 400ex apart about a week ago. I sent it off to get powdercoated last week to a guy named Aaron, who lives in Frhona, MO. He did awesome work! I def recommend him! Im at school now but ill add pics to the thread later tn when i get home. I went with a White and Black theme. Putting in a 440 big bore kit, stage 2 cam, Curtis Sparks exhaust, Laker Customs White plastic. Polished my rims back up the other night. Once i get pics up let me know how u guys think itll look when its all done. If anyone has a Sparks exhaust in excelent condition let me know!

Thanks guys! and yes blastereatin they r stock aarms...i was just gonna buy +2 aarms and elkas but havent got that far yet ha! and it wasnt going to cost very much to get them done with everything else so i figured id get them powdercoated...If anyone has some aarms +2's that youd want to sell let me know! Ill add more pics as i get more done. I sprained my ankle bad the other day so its hard to work on it..

Hm that's cool I never knew you could get stock ones coated because of something with the balljoints not being removable.

yeah i heard the same thing but I know 2 people locally that had their stock 400ex a-arms powdercoated and it worked fine. I thought it was something about the heat exploding the ball joints idk

Looking good.. I think the black white look is very clean R you going to run Fullbore they have the best looking plastic for the 400ex IMO

That is going to look amazing, the color scheme your doing is exactly what i want to do, but my maier palstics are in near perfect condition so im not going to anything untill i decide to get new plastics. When i do its going to be white for sure.

Thanks guys!! sending the motor off tm! then im gonna start puttin it all together! Im buyin laker customs plastic i like it better than the fullbores..I hopw it looks good! Ill keep u guys updated! Oh and i was in PE and we were playin a game we call angle ball and i hit another guy and he fell down as i was in the air and i landed on his leg and rolled it pretty bad...then walked on it the rest of that day which probably wasnt a good idea...oh well sh*t happens ha!

Hey guys, sorry i havent updated in a while...just been kind of busy the past few days. IM finaly off crutches, still limpin but hey better than the crutches! My motor has been sent off for the 440 and I got the front end done completely! Tell me what you guys think of it?

Sorry these pics are crappy! Took with my phone. Heres another one of the swinger and a few other things. I got the shock linkage and shock all put on...Just got a steel rod through the swinger for now holdin it in place until I can get my motor back. What do you guys think of it? Gonna have white plastic if anyone forgot! Oh and still looking for a few parts if anyone has it and theyd like to sell...Curtis Sparks full system exhaust, durablue or lonestar + whatever width axle. Thanks, NIck

Hey guys sorry for not keeping you updated! Ive been busy as hell the past few weeks. Well to update you i sent my motor off to trinity racing just the other day. Bought a hot cams stage 2 cam and heavy duty studs! Ordered a black fx gripper seat as well. Im hoping to have the whole wheeler done by february. Shortly Im going to be buying a 450r carb and doin the carb switch. I hope it makes a big difference! If anyone has a 450 carb for sale let me know. Also im wondering, should i buy heavy duty valve springs for my motor since im upgrading the cam? Well i will post some pictures as soon as i can of what it looks like now!

Bert looks good. I think you should go with Laker Custom Plastic I like the looks over the fullbore.

Well the rebuild is complete! It took about 4 freakin months! Sorry I havent kept up with this thread..it took so long to get stuff back so once I got parts back I just threw them on and road!
Heres a list of everything I did to it:
- Powdercoated frame/subframe and more
- Tag front bumper
- PowerMadd hand guards
- FX gripper seat
- Laker Customs race cut plastics
- YFZ 450 tail light w/ added brake light (banjo bolt)
- 450R carb
- Curtis Sparks X-6 full exhaust
- 440 wiseco big bore kit
- GT Thunder heavy duty studs
- Hotcams stage 2 cam
- DG skid belly skid
- New chain
- Steel braided hydraulic clutch cable

And probably a few other little things that I forgot.

Still got a few more things I wanna get for it ( extended axle, long travel front end, air shrouds, temp gauge swinger skid)

If you feel like cleaning up the bars alittle I recommend a KX dirtbike killswitch sense you dont have lights anymore.

Thanks guys! And honda4 I actually do have lights. they just arnet hooked up. Theres gonna be a light shinning through the scoop in the front, but im only gonna put it on when I night ride. And I installed a yfz tail light and I have it hooked up to the lights switch too so I can turn the runnin light on or off.
