Hey guys I am selling my motor and wondering if anyone has ever shipped one before and if so How much does it usually cost and also who do you go thru... thanks Kevin

I herd of people using cooler boxes to ship engines many times.
I'd imagine a normal box wouldn't hold up.
I've never shipped an engine, but I find Fedex to be the cheapest for shipping large/heavy items over UPS/USPS.
All depends where u are and where your shipping it to though, each carrier calculates their rates different. So one carrier might be cheaper for someone, and another for someone else.

To get a shipping quote you can go to fedex.com or UPS.com

The common way is to use a rubbermaid container (one that will hold up) and wrap the motor in blankets. That's how most do it when they're sending motors out to DRG I recall.

thats a good idea... I am trying to get a rough estimate on shipping costs... what is a dry weight on a 400 motor?? anyone know?

A guy on another site shipped his from Louisana to Arizona UPS it was 92 lbs and it cost him $112 buck and it was insured for 2k.

That sounds about right I made a box from plywood and used blue insulation foam and it weighed about 98 lbs and shipping was 90 from fedex with 3500 insurance but it also only had to travel about 350 miles
