Well Theres my problem.
Whats all this black junk? I just finished installing my hmf carbon fiber ballance pro serier exhaust 2 days ago and took it out for a little 5 minute ride. last night i was installing my 152 main jet moving up from a 148 and i noticed this. Ive tightened town my header pipes again to make sure they are fully secure but i havent cleaned off this black junk and rode again to see if it happens again.
its mainly on the left header, this never happend with stock exhaust.
could it have been because it wasnt properly jetting when i first took it out for a few minutes? because before i jetted there was alot of popping from the exhaust, there is still but very very little.
should i maybe move up another jet size and put a #42 pilot jet in?

header didnt seat flush...it doesnt matter how tight the bolts are if they are not tightened evenly it will still leak. Just my guess. If it still does it it may be time to replace the crush gaskets

the popping could be from improper jetting but based on the soot I would say leaky head pipe

yeah no problem hope it works for you!, the gaskets are cheap and only takes as much time to replace as putting the header on in the first place but I dont like replacing them either if I dont have to :)

it would literally be like $4 and half an hour to replace them. might as well just do it right.

gosh i wish it was just the gaskets :(
well i went out there to check on it and i started to take off the header bolts because i was going to make sure the headers were seated right on the ports and even but when i got to the final bolt it just kept screwing and screwing and i noticed the hole piece was turning (bolt head and were bolt head screws into) so i quickly stopped because i dont know anything about this situation. i dont want to break it off in there so i screwed the hole piece back in.
ugh im so aggrivated with BOLTS lol..so far ive had so many bolts want to strip on me now this..

what can i do?

alright well maybe this wont be as bad as i think as long as i dont break it off in there?
i went to this link http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/cheapcycleparts/Honda_OEM/HondaATV.asp?Type=13&A=235&B=13
i found the parts that are coming out. (part #14 bolt studs)
from the picture it looks like theres almost like a smooth space between 2 threaded sided on the bolt stud? cant really tell from this image.
if this is correct could i just order this .87 cent piece, carefully screw the other out and screw the new back in?

Yes, that should do it. Put some locktight on it where it goes in the head, and put antiseize on the header side.
