Ive currently got a 06Z400 with a full yoshi pipe, the carb has a 160 main jet, and i run the air box with no lid, clean my air filter after every ride. I then added a dynatek CDI and for some reason, if i gas the throttle quickly i get some sort of ping/knock, that will go away, i also noticed if i ease into the throttle it doesnt do it near as bad, if at all.. I asked a mechanic guy at the track and he told me that it sounds like detanation or pinging and said its because i use 87 instead of 93, what do you all think, should i try 93, or should i go back to stock CDI? thanks, also i did a search but didnt see anything that answered my ?'s, thanks

I have always run premium in my quads, as little fuel as they use it is a very minimal cost. Even stock it wouldn't hurt to run 93 octane.

Try the 93 ,if that don't work. I would seriously start thinking of timing issues.
