i was doin a little christmas shopping/wishful thinking, and was lookin at some works dual rates w/o rezzies. would it hurt anything at all to just get fronts or should i do all three? also would it be better to spend the extra money and get the rezzies? i do mainly trail riding but was thinking about starting to race when i turn 16. i have a 99 300ex right now.

Go ahead and get the rezzies and just get the fronts for now and check around on getting the rear one rebuilt,,this will help your bike out tremendously..

Yes, its definatly worth the cash for the rezzies, because sooner or later on down the road you will end up buying them so why not do it now.

get off-set front wheels and front holeshots or radials. set-up your shocks for +1 a-arms and MX. when u ride trails just put your stock wheels back on so you wont be too wide for em. keep an eye out on eBay, and id only get triple rates w/ rezzys!

You would only need +2 a arms if tou want triple rates for your 300ex. You could run the dual rates w/rezzies for stock a arms. And wheel spacers bend spindles so I would give a second thought about those.

First off Works doesn't make triple rates for
the 300ex anymore. They discontinued them about
6 months ago because they were too soft and they
couldn't get enough travel out of them to make
them work right with the triple rate springs.

Second, definitely go with the dual rates with
rezzies. They keep the shock oil much cooler
thus keeping suspension more plush after continuos
riding.

Third, the rear shock on a 300ex is not rebuildable, so you can't have it revalved. You
have to buy aftermarket if you want a better
rear shock. For $1200 you can have the best
front and rear shocks works makes. This is what
I went with after looking into other options.

Fourth, I run durablue spacers front and back
on my 2001 300ex and have had no problems at
all. Thats after a year of harescrambles and
motocross tracks.I take the rears off for
harescrambles, but I jump the hell out of my
quad spring, summer, fall, winter and have yet
to have a spacer break on me. If you have the
works shocks then it takes alot of stress off
your a-arms and spindles, because you have more
suspension to soak it up unlike stock shocks.

If you get spacers before shocks then just tell
them (works) that you are running spacers and
they will make the necessary adjustments. But
works shocks will work if you have spacers or stock a-arms, so you don't HAVE to buy anything
if you don't want to.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, hopefully
helped out a little.

thanks to all of you for answering, now i am planning on also getting extended a-arms, so would it be better to go ahead and get the a arms first that way i could get the shocks valved for them or would that not make a difference?

Definitely, if your going to get extended a-arms hold-off on
ordering your shocks. The position of the shock usually stays
in the same place but the leverage will change, so your
shocks would have to be revalved to get the most out of
them.
