Currently riding a 07 Sportsman 500 EFI. Nice for rolling over the top of everything, but not much in the "fun" dept.

Wife has a 07 250EX. It's fun!! However.......I'm 5'9" 260lbs of Oregon redneck....and there's not enough bike there.

We ride almost exclusively in the Oregon coast timber trails. Clearance is an issue...the Predator 500's that ride with us are high-centered pretty often. We very rarely get above 25mph except on some logging road cutoffs before we hit the trails again.

Thinking that the Honda 700xx and/or the Polaris 525IRS may be the ulitimate timber trail quad, with the IRS. I've definitely been spoiled with a cushy ride, so IRS with the extra clearance and the ride factor is a great combo. Seems like the power is overkill, but don't see a 400 IRS sport quad coming anytime soon!!

Suggestions??

thanks

I would have to recommend the 09 Polaris IRS they have shaved some of the weight and fixed some of the cosmetic plastic breaking issues. The Polaris is not over or under powered. The Polaris is lighter and more nimble than the Honda700. Due to the size of the 700 and its weight its not the easiest machine to pick up.

i would say the Honda 700xx would work more for you as it is a trail quad more so than a pure sport.
also you may want to look into a Can-Am Renegade, or even a Polaris Scrambler. Scramblers are a bit outdated but great machines.

an there are IRS kits for the 450's ...
if you want to spend an EXTRA 5g's :O

The two Honda dealers I go to BOTH have their floor model 700's set up with paddles for the sand....even though the sales people all agree that it's not a sand rig; go figure.

The DS650 is screaming your name.

They ride like a freakin Cadillac and and have some grunt to them. Plus the ergonomics are perfect for big guys.

Can Am Renegade 800! Im a 6'3" 380 pounder. Have a TRX450R and a Renegade, the R just doesnt get rode much since I bought the Gade. The Gade will run with the 450 race bikes in a drag race or in the woods. It jumps almost as good as the 450 quads plus you have 4 wheel drive. The 09s got like 11% horsepower gain. Ive got 2000 rough miles and no problems, even 2 motocross races on it.

With my short legs and arms, I just didn't feel comfortable sitting on the Renegade....but oh it sure looks sweet!!

Maybe look into a KFX700. I have heard they are pretty good machines, and they don't have manual transmission just stab the throttle and go.
