I have a friend who has a 300ex and is wondering what issues he would have putting a crf 250 power plant in the 300ex. I looked for links but haven't seen anyone referencing this type of build.

Pros and cons?

what is the best 250 4strk motor to put in there?

Thanks

A crf250x will have both kick and electric start. This is something I had mentioned in the past

Have you heard of any issues with the frame? Will the frame need gusseting?

Thanks for the feedback

If it were me, I would use a different chassis. A 250R is lighter and the geometry is much better for racing.

Tell Mike to just build it...LOL

I wish it was Mike....I like his 300...

Sounds like you have extra room in your stable why don't you build one....Or maybe you are.....;) ;) ;)

When am I gonna get those sprockets?

What sizes you got? I need some big ones before Phoenix.

No room in my stable. I got those LTR's in the garage now...

As for the sprockets the only sprockets I have are for Flat Track.

Cris I dont know what size kid will be on this quad but a 400ex would be a better frame to use with the crf250 if you were to use a yz250f motor you can use a 250r frame but if its going to be for your kid go with the 400ex because hes going to be 6foot+ when hes 14 , for now you can raise the footpegs up and forward and bring the ster stem back an inch and he will sit on it just right:D

Isn't the 250R chassis lighter then the 400EX? As for the choice of motors, the YZ250F motor is shorter in height but it will need to have an external oil tank and lines fabricated. Cody Tracy has a CRF250 in a 250R and the install is much cleaner. Just my opinion.

Eric maybe im thinking of are laeger chassis there is not enough room but if it will fit in a trx250r frame i would go with that or you can get a laeger 450r chassis 250r geometry frame for 2900 , nate will be getting a 250f when hes alittle older he just turned 11 probably when hes 13

I would try to put the motor in a 300ex frame. They are great for both kids and slightly smaller adults, frames are cheap and a dime a dozen you could screw up and just get another for $100. The only real problem would be making a spot for the radiators.
