I rode an 02 660 today and it's for sale for $4000, extra engine, plastics, has nerfs, some new parts etc. He bought it for 4k and I asked him for 3k and he said no. Someone else offered me an 04 YFZ for 3k but I didn't have it, so I don't think I'll buy it but I know what size motor I want next, even more. It wasn't as fast as I was hoping to be but it was dead even with an 02 RM125 on a dirt road with a skilled rider, his back tire was pretty bald though, I didn't shift as fast into 4th and he got about 2 lengths on me (staying even) but I stopped, so I'd say any stock Raptor (700 I dunno) is on par with any stock 125. I want a quad that would have jumped infront of the 125 after 1st/2nd gear, would a slightly modified 250R do that? 5th gear didn't seem that tall either, maybe even shorter than 4th, it topped out pretty quick, I'd say 110km/h, which is too fast, that was really revving it out, they should have made 5th a bit more of a stretch just so you wouldn't bother to really change the sprockets. If a 250 dirtbike can outrun a 125, what quad is on par with the 250? How much more power does the new YFZ have over it? In a race on a dirt road, would it be a huge difference (10 lengths) or like 2? Also I thought they could have atleast made the steering a little sharper  It shouldn't take a roads width to turn around. I found out that I really don't need reverse, I could spin the thing on a dime in dirt etc but I guess it's nice for when you don't want to spin it around in your garage. Were the 02's the tippy ones? It wasn't tippy at all, it seemed a little wide. I've sat on YFZ's and they felt short and thin, I'm 5'8 and would prefer a more dirtbike-like chassis, especially if the chain adjuster is easier to work on. How difficult is it to adjust the valves on these? Do you have to adjust all 5? How much is a new top end? How many chain & sprockets & tires do you go through if you ride everyday for half an hour for 1 year? Now you'll say it depends on how you ride it but I'd say I don't ride slow and I don't ride fast. Also which of these is better on gas and which will respond better to say, 1000-1500 worth of engine mods? 125, Raptor, YFZ, & trx250r.

Also on the 250R's do you mix the oil into the tank or is there a seperate? If they made them oil-injected, although more parts to go wrong, you'd be able to gas up at stations and be out of there quickly, I don't want to carry around bottles of premix lol.

The raptor was easily luggable also, I wouldn't need to go any slower and the power is pretty instant. The 125 has no bottom end and I'm like 190lbs so I wouldn't buy one. Can a 250R lug like a 660? The 660 didn't really want to stall either it just kept rolling without gas.

ive ridden a 01 and a 02 660r, 04 yfz, and 04 450r ad 01 460ex and I would take either 450 or even the built 400ex over the 660. there was also a 05 450r and 07 yfz in the group but i didnt ride them. anyways the raptors were always towards the back of the pack besides maybe th 04 450r.

but to give you some details, every bike was at about the same stage of mods, aftermarket filter, no lid, piped and rejetted and regeared.

the only differences were that the 04 450r was stock just like one in the showroom and the 460ex had about everything money can buy in the engine.

and why is there a 125 in this comparison? a dirt bike is always way easier to make faster even against a quad with a larger engine put that 125 into a quad and it would be a dog.

i personally love the way the 450's power comes on compared to the 660. and for 4km you can find 450's all over if you look, you might not get all the extra parts, but you will get a 450.
